Prismarine slowly lowered himself onto the landing that was carved from the mountain. Taking a sharp inhale of breath, the obsidian hybrid peered inside the hollowed out mountain.
Dragonets of all different colors, sizes, and shapes were packing every corner of the giant hall; a few crowded on some balconies overlooking the giant hollowed space. Several banners hung from the ceiling, reading "WELCOME NEW STUDENTS!".
Prismarine sighed, flapping his obsidian-black wings shut with a muffled snapping sound. He slithered between the crowd, finding himself in a hallway to the right. Scanning around the hallway, the SeaWing hybrid noticed a dragonet that seemed familiar to him coming through the corridor. Immediately, Prismarine saw that this was none other than his friend, Saturn.
Prismarine noticed that Saturn's face lit up as he saw Prismarine, and shone a wide grin. He immediately started gliding across the hall to his old friend. They collided into a hug, pulling away to greet each other.
"You! I can't believe you're here! Well, I can, considering your constant talk about this school. I thought you weren't going to be here this year!" Saturn chuckled. His dusty golden scales reflected light from the lanterns above as he bounced up and down excitedly.
"I didn't know I would see you here too! I haven't seen you in so long! Well, a month, to be exact." Prismarine shook his head in disbelief. Ever since Saturn moved to the Kingdom of Sand, they both thought they would never see each other again. But Saturn had proved Prismarine wrong by turning up last year and being in his winglet last year.
The SandWing in front of him perked his head up.
"We should probably head to class. What does your miniature blackboard say?" The rusty gold SandWing asked.
"Oh!" Prismarine exclaimed. He had forgotten to check at the table set up in the front. "Um," he planted his talon under his horns, trying to remember. "I think I'm in the Sapphire Winglet? That's what my mother told me, anyway."
Saturn's grin quickly shot into a huge smile. "I'm in the Sapphire Winglet too! We can be together!" he lightly bounced up and down. "This is so great!" They both peaked behind the two dragons, watching the colorful sea of dragons flood the halls.
"Oh." Prismarine sighed. "We should get to our class." The hybrid flapped his dark wings, beginning to move down the hall.
"Yeah, I kinda don't want to get swept up by the crowd." Saturn said, closely following his obsidian-colored friend.
A few minutes later, Prismarine and Saturn found the cave where the Sapphire Winglet was meeting. Inside, they saw three other dragonets; a crimson red SkyWing, sleeping comfortably in a nook. They saw the two other dragonets that were there bickering in the front, one a MudWing who was a rich brown, and an IceWing, minty blue. They seemed to be arguing about who had an open nook that seemed so soft and comfortable you could just sink into it.
Prismarine and his rusty-gold friend walked through the doorway of the cave, bringing everyone's attention to them.
"Hey," The MudWing said. "You're those hybrids they told us about." He shot right up to them, closely analyzing them. "I've never met you guys before, I thought you had extra limbs? Or extra wings?"
Prismarine nervously gave a chuckle, whilst Saturn snarled.
"Oh, no. We're just like you guys, ha..." Prismarine awkwardly responded.
The MudWing shrugged, returning to his conversation with the IceWing.
"Three moons," Saturn leaned into Prismarine. "These dragons know nothing about hybrids." he commented judgmentally.
"No kidding." Prismarine scanned the room.
There seemed to be domed lights stringed across the bland stone ceiling. There was a cliff, just off to the left of the front of the room. The SkyWing was now laying there, smoke rising from her snout. "So," Prismarine had no memory of the SkyWing in his past winglet. "I think—" he was cut off as a familiar LeafWing tribrid entered the room, her black-brown eyes glinting with something Prismarine's mind couldn't really comprehend.
Wow, I'm back, Venus' mind faintly buzzed.
Prismarine suddenly felt a presence cloud Venus' mind, but he couldn't tell what. Prismarine suddenly felt like walking over to Saturn, suddenly.
"It's almost time for Introduction with Tsunami." Saturn explained. Prismarine nodded.
"Yeah, just lemme set down my stuff." He said, never taking his eyes off of Venus
"So," Princess Tsunami said. "I know most of you were here last year, so I wanted to say that maybe we should all introduce ourselves. Now, does anyone want to go first? Favorite color? Anything?"
"My name is Saturn of the SandWings and NightWings," Prismarine's dragonethood best friend said. "and my favorite color is pale yellow, last time I checked."
Prismarine finally mustered up courage, and he said, "My name is Prismarine of the SeaWings," and he told everyone everything, but he left out many things, and his suspicion on Venus.
I wonder if she is hiding something.
