Chapter 6 - The Talk
I enter my father's room, heaving a sigh, glad I managed to get away from the royals and their pondering questions. But the look my father gave me, as his hand massages my sleeping daughters back tells me I got myself into another predicament.
"I will take her to our room and then we will talk," I tell him and go grab Dalia.
I look out the window in my room, and sigh in relief when I see the royal family's limousine and a Jaguar driving away.
'That's out of the way', I think and head back to my father's room.
"What do you want to know?" I ask him as I take a sit next to his bed.
"Is Kaiden the father?"
I close my eyes and a stubborn tear falls out, forcing me to nod.
"You are the mystery girl," he says is a rough voice. "Why didn't you tell him?! You could be married, you wouldn't bad had to leave!"
I stood up with a groan, walking away from the bed, "you think I didn't try?!" I ask him, turning to face him, " you think he would listen to me?!" I chuckle, "no. I was too young, too immature, too imperfect to be the marvelous, experience women he spent the night with. If he didn't believe that, what makes you think he would had believed I was pregnant with his child? That would had just made matters worse."
"Jadelynn," my father sighs, looking at me with pitiful eyes, "she has his eyes."
"I know."
"No one else in this country had his eyes."
"I know," I settle back down on the chair next to his bed, "why do you think I never came back. The moment I saw her eyes I knew it would be a dead give-a-way."
"What are you going to do?" He wonders, "not only will her eyes give her away, but so will her age."
"I will not let him take her away from me," I state, "I don't care of he finds out. In fact, I want him to find out. I promised myself the day I left that if I ever see him again I will make him pay."
"And how will you do that?"
"By making him regret every word he said to me that day," I told him, "Prince Kaiden of Karos will regret not believing me the moment he see Dalia. And if he thinks that a mere apology will have me forgive him, he's in for something else. And from what Dalia told me yesterday, he will have to do much more than that to get her to accept him."
"What did you do?" He asks.
"I told her the truth," I struggle, "I told her that I tried to tell him, but he would believe me. That he didn't want to believe me. She says that he can't forgive him that."
"She's very smart."
"And that's his doom," I smile, "my daughter is too smart and can't be fooled."
"I noticed."
He yawns and I sigh, standing up, "rest father," I peck his forehead as his eyes begin to close, "there will be more time to talk."
