Seonghwa idolized his father. Park Jimin was a man that many looked up too.
He saved countless lives, including Seonghwa's mother's. They had fallen in love and gotten married. Then had him. His mother had died when he was young, some unknown disease that had come across the kingdom.
So for as long as he could remember, it was just him and his father.
His father told him many times that he should train to take over the powers of the green witch once he was older. Training became something of a father/son bonding experience for both of them.
Seonghwa would do anything for his father, and Jimin would do anything for his son.
So it only made sense for Seonghwa to look up to his father even as he descended into madness.
Jimin's kind nature slowly faded away and was replaced with something more sinister. His unconditional love for Seonghwa turned into something toxic and manipulative, using Seonghwa's love for him to convince him to help. Power changes people after all.
But even after all that, Seonghwa never stopped looking up to his father. As much as Jimin's love was fake, Seonghwa's was real.
Seonghwa stood by his father, even through all the destruction and death. He stood by is father as he killed hundreds of humans. He stood by his father as a group of other witches came to stop him.
From his spot behind a few trees, Seonghwa could make out four figures. From what he could tell, they were all boys, around his age or younger. Other witches. Seonghwa had never seen other witches before.
He watched silently as the shortest in the group stepped towards his father. Seonghwa stepped closer in order to hear what was going on.
"Park Jimin?" The short one, likely the leader, said.
"That's me," Jimin answered with a smile. Maybe his father was a little insane.
"We need you to come with us," said a black-haired boy from next to his leader.
Jimin pretended to think a little, Seonghwa always found this funny, "No," Jimin concluded, the same smile still on his face.
"You need to come with us now or we will have to use force," a third boy said. This one was tall with orange hair. Seonghwa took the time to notice a small boy standing close to the black-haired boy, this one had blonde, fluffy hair. The boy didn't speak, he just stood there.
"Use as much force as you want, you're children there isn't much you could do anyway," Jimin said with a forced yawn.
The leader sighed, "This is your last warning".
Jimin shrugged, sending a vine toward the leader, however, it was blocked by an orange shield. Seonghwa could see the leader send a grateful nod toward the tall boy with orange hair.
The leader then pressed his hand to the metal wall next to him, causing a wire to come out and head towards his father.
Seonghwa couldn't help but think this power was sightly useless, what would he do if there is no technology in his reach? Is he useless?
Jimin effortlessly dodged the wire and the many more that followed it.
"So this is the son of Kim Namjoon?" Jimin scoffed. "You're weak," he spat.
Jimin used a vine to grab the wires and send them back at Hongjoong, effectively knocking him backward.
Before Jimin could do anything else, someone tackled him from behind.
The black-haired boy from earlier, Seonghwa thought.
The boy knocked Seonghwa's father to the ground, quickly getting off of him. Quickly after, an orange force field surrounded his father, trapping him inside. Seonghwa debated intervening.
However, Jimin was not done, he used vines to press against the force field until it shattered, causing the orange-haired boy to panic. He sent a sharp vine towards the tall boy in an attempt to kill him while he was weak.
It happened too fast for Seonghwa to warn him. A wire came from the wall and into his father's back. Right through his heart. The group of four left after that.
Seonghwa rushed to his father's body. Kneeling down next to him. His father reached up and grabbed his hand.
"Finish what I started, Seonghwa. Those humans don't deserve to live," he rasped, green magic beginning to flow from the dying body to Seonghwa's
"Father, who was that?" Seonghwa asked, his voice rushed as he tried to slow the bleeding.
"Kim Hongjoong."
"I'll kill him, I swear I'll kill him."
That was the day Seonghwa swore to kill Kim Hongjoong and his team.
No matter what, Kim Hongjoong would pay.
