Hongjoong and San walked side-by-side down the hallway. After the attack on their base, they were able to catch two prisoners to interrogate.
And to say San was nervous was an understatement.
This would be the first time he'd speak to his brother in a very long time, and he knew the conversation would not be pleasant.
Hongjoong had created technology that would block the prisoners from using their powers, so at least there was one less thing to worry about. Neither of the two villains would be able to use their powers on San or Hongjoong.
"Let's go to Wooyoung first," Hongjoong suggested quietly, stopping them in the middle of the hallway to pull out the tablet that controlled the base's functions.
San nodded, hands clasped behind his back.
Hongjoong continued to tap away on his tablet until a loud hiss sounded through the hallway. The atmosphere in the hallway was tense as the two boys watched the door to the holding room slide open.
"Jung Wooyoung," Hongjoong said as they walked inside. Wooyoung was sitting in a metal chair with a metal table in front of him. There were no cuffs, they had other safety measures in place instead.
Wooyoung looked up and rolled his eyes.
"Jung Wooyoung, 21 years old, adopted son of Kim Taehyung, charged with murder and escaping prison," San said, staring Wooyoung in the eyes.
Wooyoung laughed. Not a normal laugh, or even a mocking one.
It was full-on laughter filled with insanity.
The two heroes waited until he was done.
"We need to ask you some questions, Wooyoung," Hongjoong said, now holding his tablet in his crossed arms. His normally soft features hardened in an attempt to look somewhat professional and intimidating.
"No offense, Mr. Hongjoong," Wooyoung said, still smiling from his fit of random laughter. "You don't scare me, you look like an angry hamster."
San put his hand over his mouth to hold back a laugh. Hongjoong clearly noticed as he sent San a glare. San put his hand back down and turned his attention back to Wooyoung. He was still smiling slightly.
The truth is the truth, no matter who says it, after all.
San composed himself, "We need to know where your base is, Wooyoung. Where is it?"
Wooyoung's smiling face turned to anger in a second. "You." He said, staring San directly in the eyes.
It sent chills down his spine.
"I hate you, you know."
Oh, San definitely knew.
"You took what's mine away from me," Wooyoung said. He was getting angrier, now. He started to laugh maniacally.
"I'm going to kill you," He giggled, "then I'm going to take Yeosangie with me, and he won't miss you either, he'll forget about you and be happy with me."
With that, Wooyoung rose from his chair and lunged at them.
San flinched. However, he knew Wooyoung couldn't get to him.
As Wooyoung tried to pass a white line on the ground, he jumped backward, screaming.
"Electric force field," Hongjoong muttered, noticing the confusion on San's face. "Mingi and I worked to make it."
San nodded, following Hongjoong out the door, leaving Wooyoung laughing hysterically on the ground.
Once they exited the room, San let out a breath he had been holding in. Hongjoong noticed this and put a comforting hand on the taller's shoulder. He offered Hongjoong a tense smile, to which he responded with the same.
"Jongho's next," Hongjoong said. "I know what's happened between you two, so only go if you're up for it."
"It's okay, Joong, I can do it," San said.
Hongjoong nodded, not saying anything. He then motioned for them to walk towards Jongho's room.
Hongjoong brought his tablet back out, typing away until the door slid open with another hiss.
The two walked in, greeted immediately by the sight of Jongho sitting in his chair.
Despite being held prisoner, the boy looked calm. There were no signs of burns or bruises, showing that he didn't even attempt to leave.
The Choi brothers made intense eye contact the second San walked into the room.
"Jongho," San started, surprising Hongjoong, who thought he wouldn't want to say anything. "We need to ask you a few questions, okay."
Jongho scoffed. As much as he tried to look tough, San could see the pain and hurt behind his eyes.
"I need to know where Seonghwa and Yunho are," San said softly. He hated his relationship with his brother, he wanted so bad to fix it.
"Go to hell," Jongho said, staring at the table.
'Jongho-."
"I'm going to kill you," Jongho hissed, "then I am going to kill Yoongi".
San sighed, it seemed lately a lot of people wanted to kill him.
He turned to Hongjoong, "Can you leave us alone, please?"
Hongjoong gave him a questioning look, making sure he really wanted to do that. When San nodded, Hongjoong walked out the door.
When he was gone, San continued, "I miss you, Jongho."
Jongho scoffed and rolled his eyes. "You only miss me because it's come back to haunt you. You want to play the hero who saves his brother from going down a road of murder. It's too late for that, San."
"Jongho, you just made the wrong choice. It's not too late, let me help you."
"Just leave, San, leave me alone."
San nodded his head, sighing again before walking out the door. Hongjoong was waiting for him outside. The captain was leaning against the wall, tablet in hand.
"That could have gone worse," Hongjoong commented, looking at San.
"You were listening in?"
"Of course I was, don't ask stupid questions. Now are we going to have dinner or what?"
San grinned, following the leader down the hallway to get some food.
