Chapter 47

Callie's POV
I bring Kai to get back of the truck "Two mattresses and the frames are in the backseat" I say and he smiles "Your the best" he is about to pull me in a hug when I dodge "Ah-uh your still in trouble what was going on between you and Manny" I ask crossing my arms concerned "Look Manny was pushing my buttons and I was being an ass so I pushed his back I shouldn't have even engaged with him if you want after this I will apologize" he says I sigh and nod.

"Okay but now we should really get to work," I say and he nods, we walk to the garage. Since there are four people in the basement I tell Kai I am gonna let one of them rest and he nods sending me off. I go down to the basement and see them all busy working but I look over at Jane who looks completely drained.

"Hey Jane you can be the first to nap, I got melatonin if you need it," I say and she turns around "Are you sure" she meekly asks "Jane go we got this you look exhausted," Grayson says and she nods gives Jackie a kiss and follows me upstairs. I show her to Kai's room where she takes the melatonin and lays down "I'll come wake you up when it's time" I say and she nods.

About forty-five minutes have passed, Dylan, me and Kai have made more room starting to throw stuff away and deciding what should go in storage. I go back to the basement to check on the other and they are nearly done. I hand them a couple of energy drinks and they get back to work. I go and wake up Jane and tell her she could go back and that Manny was gonna swap with her.

She nods and slowly gets out of bed as I hand her an energy drink, I go to the basement and tell Manny as he reluctantly goes and lays down. I go back to the garage and get back to work, "Hey" Kai whispers calling me outside the garage, "What's up" I ask stepping out, "I can hear Dylan's stomach growling from out here so I'm gonna go get us some food I'll be back in five or ten depending if I can find something open" he says and I chuckle nodding

"Okay just be careful and come back quickly," I say, he smiles and nods. I see him take off and I go back inside to help Dylan out. "So I see you and Kai are good friends now," Dylan says while throwing the trash.

"You too Dylan," I say raising a brow "You're the one who wanted me to make friends with him," I say confused about what his problem is. "Look just-" he pauses thinking about what he is going to say, "Look Kai doesn't exactly get his money legally so just be careful" he huffs "Oh okay I'll keep that in mind" I sigh thinking only if he knew that's how we met and I am right hand to one of the biggest racing gangs or was right hand, right now it's fairly unclear I knew I should've never mixed pleasure and business together. After that, we get back to work and more than ten minutes rolled by, I decided to text Kai.

Me: Hey you okay?
Kai: Yeah sorry taking longer than expected
Me: It's okay just get back safely 😊
Kai: Yes mam be there in five 👍🏼

I put my phone away and tell Dylan I'm gonna go check on the others, he nods moving a box outside, I go back to the basement and see that it's done and they're yawning with watery eyes "Hey is this how it goes" Grayson asks. "No dumb ass it's upside down," Jane says to Grayson. "Look Manny is the one good at this not me," he says putting his hands up.

"Hey, Gray come help me with the garage I'm sending Dylan to bed," I say and he gets up and dashes to me. "I'll go get Manny for y'all," I say and the girls nod, I go to Kai's room and shake Manny until he groans "Manny you gotta get up," I say and he nods but not budging "Come on Manny you can do it," I say grabbing his hand and pulling him up. "Fine Callie just because your beautiful I will," he says groggy making a tint of red burn on my cheeks.

I send him back downstairs and tell Dyaln to go to sleep. And like a child, he resists saying that he's just hungry, and right on cue Kai comes rolling up. "Fine we all eat and then your off to bed," I say sternly and he nods caving in. "I got bean and cheese" Kai sings getting out of the car. I gather everyone around as Kai hands out two each for everyone.

Of course, we all scoff them down like we haven't eaten for days. I send Dylan off to sleep and we get back to work. I fill in Kai that they were making the bed the last time I checked on them he nods and continues working.

I lost track of time and an hour has gone by I wake up Dylan and swap him for Jackie who knocks out once she hits the bed. I go back to the garage that we finally finished Grayson is decorating the walls as me and Kai assemble the bed. By now it is about 5:45 and they have finished with the basement, I send Dylan and Manny to the storage locker that I got and they take the truck full of stuff.

Jane comes into the garage and helps us, and then I  eventually switch Kai for Jackie, but of course, there has to be a stubborn one. Seeing that I'm getting nowhere I send Grayson to bed giving Kai a death glare, "Holy shit" Kai says out of nowhere making us all panic "What" we say in unison. "I don't have food for the kids," he says looking petrified but tired.

"It's okay Jane and Jackie Are you okay to go to the store" I ask and they both nod. Kai gives them his credit card and off they go, we finish up the room and he sighs in relief plopping down on the floor. "Thank you," he says looking down making me smile

"Don't worry about it," I say waiting for a response but get nothing. "Kai?" I ask and look at him and he is knocked out, I go and grab a pillow lining it up with his head laying him down and covering him.

I go and plug his phone in along with mine and Grayson's, I make sure everything is okay and in order, as I close the garage door and step outside. I decided that I should fix up some spots for the cars so it looks better so for about ten minutes that's what I do. Denying myself sleep knowing if I fall asleep now then I won't wake myself up.

"Good job with the cars," Dylan says lining up next to Manny's car just like I  intended. "Why are you still awake" Manny asks getting out of the truck. "Sent girls to store need wait," I say as my eyes feel heavy, I see him and Dylan look at each other and nod. "Go lay down," they both say and I shake my head and they both just stare until I move. "Ugh fine wake me up at 6:15" I groan "Okay," Manny says before I go inside and crash lying down next to Kai.
