I sat on the grass, watching my younger brother Levi run around, playing in the water with my Mother and Father.
"I got you!" My Dad exclaimed, scooping Levi up into his arms and tickling him. My brother screamed and tried to hit him back, but my dad just laughed at his weak hits.
Both my parents had managed to get the Sunday off, and we had been blessed with warm, sunny weather for the day. My brother and I had been woken up at the crack of dawn, "Come on, we don't want to lose the day!" they had said, excitedly pulling us out of bed.
They lead us through the thick forest of trees to a small lake, one I didn't know existed. I didn't even know Snow would allow this within the fences. Maybe he didn't know, whatever, I don't care.
The second we saw the lake my brother and I ran towards it, ignoring my mother's concerns of us not being able to swim. "I suppose you better teach us then!" I called back, pulling my shoes off before stepping in.
My mother had packed a picnic, one that must've taken weeks to save up for, and around midday we all sat together, for the first time in weeks. Sitting under the sun, with the three people I care about most in the world, I almost forgot tomorrow was the reaping. Almost.
