"Look at him, " Debby said in a nasty voice as though disgusted as she looked at Andrew across their table to the "cool kids" table. Andrew Graham was on the school soccer team. He was one of the best players and was also the co-captain of the team. He was tall and wasn't very buff but still well built with enough muscle and abs to attract attention. He had brown hair that he kept to shoulder length and cut his beard to a goatee. He usually liked picking on people like Joseph for being such dorks and he found everything funny even when it wasn't.
He didn't listen to anyone. Well no one but Cameron Larson, his best friend and the team's captain, and Debby, his crush who wasn't interested in being with him because of the jerk he was.
"How dare he tap my ass. I mean who does he think he is, " Debby continued but soon noticed that Marybeth wasn't paying attention. "Marybeth, are you even listening? " Debby asked in a whiny voice. Joseph looked at Debby then at Marybeth who seemed to be looking over at the cool kids table as well. Of course, she was staring at Cameron, any girl had crushed on him at least once.
Joseph rolled his eyes with a sigh and snapped Marybeth out of it. "Uhm, what? You were saying? " Marybeth said confused. Joseph shook his head and said, "Debby was complaining about Andrew's misconduct in class and you missed it now she's upset with you. " Marybeth looked at Debby apologetically, "Oh Debby, I'm so sorry I was listening. I just got distracted. I..." "Na, it's fine I get it. You have a crush on Cameron, it's normal, " Debby said.
Joseph looked at Marybeth and said, " What do you see in him anyway? " "Ahh, should we get you a new lense? He's hot, " Marybeth said. "Yeah, I see that but he's a jerk, "Joseph said. "Oh come, he's obviously changed. He's the reason Andrew stopped bugging you in class today, "Marybeth said. "Na, that's coz he's the reason Andrew started in the first place, "Joseph said. "Still thinking of sophomore year? Get over it. They needed time to understand that youngsters like us can be smart enough to be on the same level as them, "Marybeth said. Joseph scoffed and shook his head, "This isn't even blind love, it's just stupidity. " Marybeth was so offended she gasped and just as she was about to shoot back, Debby stopped her and said, "Enough you guys. Let's not let those jerks ruin our mood. It's the first day of our last semester in senior year. Just brush it off. " " Yeah, let's just brush it off. In any case I'm done with my lunch. See you in class, " Joseph said and walked away.
It was time to go home, Debby and Marybeth were walking together out of school to the waiting area. "Just so you know, I'm still throwing a tantrum on what Andrew did. Why would he tap my ass? "Debby said. Marybeth smiled and said, " I knew it wasn't over. " Debby continued complaining and all of the sudden, Marybeth stopped. Debby continued walking and talking not realising Marybeth was behind. She soon realised and stopped to turn back.
"What happened? "Debby asked. Marybeth was quiet for a few seconds with an expression of trying to understand her surrounding. "Are you okay? "Debby asked getting closer. "I'm seeing colours and I feel like my world's spinning. Noises are getting distor..." Marybeth was about to fall but Debby grabbed her and made her stand straight. She took Marybeth's back pack and started searching for something. "Where's your medicine? Did you take your first dose of today? "Debby asked. Marybeth suddenly grabbed her bag and said with a tantrum, "No, I didn't and I won't take it. " "But Marybeth, you need it, "Debby said. "No I don't, I'm not psycho, "Marybeth said and started walking away.
Debby stood there, not knowing what to do or say to convince Marybeth to take her pills. While she was still trying to think fast and Marybeth was at a distance, she noticed that Marybeth started walking slowly and wobbly and she knew the next thing was a blackout. Seeing that Marybeth was going to fall and hurt herself, Debby shouted for Marybeth and started racing at her to catch her so she could have a soft landing but the distance and rate at which Marybeth fell was greater than Debby's speed. Marybeth was now falling and just when Debby thought Marybeth would hit her head or something, Cameron caught her.
Debby reached there and sighed in relief. "Thank you so much, " Debby said to Cameron but Andrew turned up from nowhere and said, "You're welcome milady. " Debby rolled her eyes and said, " I wasn't talking to you and I'm not talking to you. " "What? You still mad about me tapping your sweet ass? " Andrew asked with a smirk. She rolled her eyes and tried to ignore him and walk away over to Marybeth but he held her hand to stop her. "Don't touch me, "Debby said. Andrew let go of her and surrendered. "Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cross the line but let me make it up to you at least, "Andrew said. Debby folded her arms and looked up at him. "I'm hosting a party this Friday, and you're invited. I promise to make it up to you there, " Andrew said. "Okay, sounds fair but only on one condition, "Debby said. "Sure, " Andrew said. "Only if my friends can come, "Debby said. "What those ner..., "Andrew said but stopped when he saw Debby raise a brow, "You know what, anything for you. Bring the whole Dorksvile if you want. " Debby looked at him sarcastically.
"Ahh, glad you guys have finally ageed but this narcoleptic genuis ain't no light weight, " Cameron said as he was still holding on to Marybeth. "Oh, sorry. Just help me take her to that bench, I'll wait till they come get her, "Debby said. Just as they started heading for the bench, they heard a woman calling for Debby and stopped to look. It was Mrs Williams. She came as fast as she could after seeing that Marybeth had passed out. "What happened to her? "Mrs Williams asked. "Hate to be a tattle tell but she didn't take her pills and she doesn't want to, "Debby said. "Uhg, Marybeth, stubborn as always. Please help me take her to the car, "Mrs Williams said.
Cameron carried Marybeth to the car and put her in the back seat. Mrs Williams got into her seat and looked outside to the kids and said, " Thank you so much..." "Cameron, Cameron Larson, " Cameron said. "And...,"Mrs Williams said looking at Andrew. "Ahh Andrew Graham, "Andrew said. "Oh wow, I didn't know Marybeth had such nice friends. I only hear about Debby and Joseph, I didn't know she had two knights to protect her as well, "Mrs Williams said. Debby and Andrew were about to deny it but Cameron spoke fast enough to stop them and said, " Yeah, we love Marybeth. She's like our little sister you know. Maybe she doesn't say much about us coz we don't get much chance to hang looking at her condition and our busy schedules. We got school and practice so there's that clash but we were hoping to make up for it this Friday. We're hosting a party and hoped she would join us. "
Mrs Williams was clearly hesitant about it and so, Cameron continued, "If you're thinking it's some sort of frat house party, don't worry, we're just teens having fun. There will be adult supervision and even Debby is coming. " "I am? " Debby asked then decided to go with the flow, "I am. " Mrs Williams smiled and said, " Well I would feel safer if Debby was there with her. Okay then I'll consider it. I just have to convince her dad. " "Sure thing. Thank you. And remember we'll all be there to take care of her, " Cameron said. Mrs Williams smiled and said, "Of course. Oh and Debby, you can come along if you want. I can give you a ride. " Debby got into the car and said, " Thank you, I actually want to be there when her Majesty awakens. I need to talk to her. "
When they finally drove away, Andrew looked at Cameron and said, "Fucking liar, what was that all about? " Cameron smirked and said, "I did you a favour and all you do is call me a liar. " " How does being involved with the nerd's fam a favour. I didn't want shit with her. She lives in a fortress and such girls are all about the hustle just to be friends with them. I don't wanna be a baby sitter. Now everytime she sees us she's gonna ask about her daughter who I don't even care about, "Andrew complained. "Yet you have a crush on her best friend who won't dare step a foot at your house this Friday if the nerd doesn't show up. Obviously the girl won't go anywhere if her parents say no. I attacked the problem at it's source. If her parents say yes, Marybeth comes and so does Debby. If her parents trust us, you'll get more of these opportunities and might even have a chance with Debby. You're welcome, "Cameron said.
