Korra was practically vibrating with excitement, finally things were starting to look up for her. She got it, she finally got a job she could turn into a career. No more late night bar work, no more 0 hour contracts, no more worrying whether she could afford the bills this month. But most importantly she could finally provide for her sister, maybe even get a college fund started for her. Her mind was swimming with how things could change for the better. Maybe she could even splurge on herself and finally buy herself a new pair of shoes without the charming holes at the bottom.

It's been three years since she had to drop out of College and step up as her sister's legal guardian. She had no regrets though but trying to earn enough money was hard when you had no further education and balancing raising a baby. She had no idea what she was even doing at the time, one moment she was a carefree college student living her best life, the next she was sitting in a hospital waiting room cradling little Kalyaan in her arms whilst their life fell apart around her. She still remembers feeling numb when the doctors were talking to her, she could barely hear them, still sat there in shock, then she looked down at , her eyes blue and wide, so innocent, she knew right then and there she needed to be strong for both of them.

Korra was strolling down the streets of Republic city with the biggest smile on her face. Nothing could bring her mood down now, the phone call she received earlier in the day offering her the job was a welcome surprise. She hadn't expected to get it. She felt embarrassed actually during the interview, she wasn't exactly qualified in anything, although the job itself didn't ask for anything more than high school level education she thought she would probably be the least qualified attending the interview. Maybe she just aced the quiz she did? or maybe she is better at interviewing than she thought. Regardless this job had set fucking hours, she would be working 9-5 like a grown up. She could easily drop Kaly off at Pemas and Tenzins house before work and finish in time to make them both dinner before bedtime. It was perfect really.

As she continues to stroll down the street she feels her phone vibrating in her back pocket, she slips it out and can see Pema's flashing name across the screen. She decides to answer the call with a big smile.

Korra
"Hey Pem, is everything ok?"

Pema
"Hi Korra, everything is fine, I was just wondering if you wanted to stay for dinner when you come round to pick up Kaly? Meelo keeps complaining that he wants that wrestling rematch, he convinced that he will win this time"

Korra
"Ha he says that every time, sure we could stay for dinner we both know Kaly prefers your cooking anyway. Erm.. I actually have some good news too so I can tell you guys once I'm there. I'm walking to you now so I won't be long, do you need me to pick anything up from the store?"

Pema
"Oh no I don't think we need anything. I can't wait to hear this good news, we can talk about it over dinner. Oh and before you go don't go picking up sweets for the kids, I cant handle Mylo hyped up on a sugar rush tonight"

Korra chuckled at Pema's last statement, Korra had a habit of hyping the kids up on sugar then making a swift exit.

Korra
" No Problem Pem, I will see you in about 15 minutes, Bye bye"

Korra arrived at the Air temple island 15 minutes later, as she jumped off the ferry she could see Rohan and Kaly running around like little crazy people and Jinora sitting close by sitting on the floor reading a book. Korra walked over to Jinora and sat herself next to her with a soft ooft when her butt hit the floor. The young girl looked up at Korra with a soft smile and a quick 'hey'. 'hey Jinora, are you letting these guy's run out some energy before dinner?'. Jinora chuckled and looked out to the two manic toddlers, 'Yeah, they have been vibrating with energy so I took them out here to blow off some steam so mum can finish dinner'. Just at that moment Kaly noticed Korra's presence and immediately started sprinting in her direction, Not like a 4 year old can sprint very fast. The little cannonball fast approached her sister 'Kowwa' she proceeded to dive fast first in Korra's direction. Korra was used to this approach from her sister and easily caught her mid jump and sat down on her lap. ' Hey lil Kay-bear have you been good for Jinora and Pema?' Kaly looked up at Korra with her big blue eyes then went into a full detailed explanation of her whole day, her sister struggled to keep up with the toddlers' ramblings but did hear something about collecting cool rock and maybe something about a fish? 'ok that sounds super fun, let's go see Pem' Korra proceeds to chuck Kaly on one shoulder and Rohan over the other whilst walking the two giggling toddlers towards the kitchen'
