Third Eye POV
After the plane had touched down safely, the group disbanded for a while, getting together later in the afternoon after freshening up from their journey. The boys still had their de-briefing and a re-cap of the mission to save Dante's parents from the clutches of a crazed general whose sole intent was to build a superior race of soldiers of the future, using genetics and enhancement drugs.
Dante's parents were taken into quarantine and given subsequent health checks owing to the situation of having been in a cryogenic state for 24 years. Captain Sam Grenley led her team of experts, the very same ones who had been observing and monitoring Dante's own progress with his unusual abilities.
But much to Sam's shocking discovery, Dante apparently was not the only one in the family who possessed certain abilities. His parents too displayed these abilities when the nurses on her team attempted to take a sample of blood from Dante's mother, Mara who blatantly refused, preferring to levitate the women up in the air, until they relented.
Just then, the leader of The Organization, Darius, Damien's father entered the facility with his partner, Bry. Both men were astonished at the sight of the four women clutching onto one another, screaming out in terror, as they hovered several feet in the air. In an effort to calm the woman down, Darius inadvertently distracted Mara, almost causing injury to the four by losing her concentration, bringing them nearly crashing to the ground.
Bry tried his best to persuade the woman to let them go, while Darius gently intervened resulting in much relief for the women who were finally eased down gently onto the tiled floor. Both men introduced themselves to the two scientists, hoping that they could shed more light on the situation which they had found themselves in.
"I am intrigued by your abilities, doctor. You seem to possess similar traits to your son..." Darius noted.
"Yes, we were administering the same type of vaccines into our blood streams, monitoring the differences between us..." Ilya confirmed.
"But why test it out upon yourselves and not laboratory specimens? Surely the labs could provide willing subjects...which I presume was common in those days...for a price..." Bry was suddenly cut off by Ilya.
"We absolutely refused to test on other human beings. It was like they were willing to be sacrificed for a high price...and the specimens I'm afraid were mostly children, slightly older than Dante. I must admit that it was a high risk we took when we began the treatments on one so young as Dante.
Mara had begun taking the treatments while Dante was still in gestation period in her womb. But he seemed quite impervious to the effects of the vaccines according to our records, and had only began displaying such abilities as soon as he turned 2..." Ilya confessed.
"At that time, we were already in the country, and had been approached by a Senator who had promised us a new life in this new country and freedom which we had never really known.
We worked for the Soviet government, doing certain experiments on creatures, which failed resulting in horrendous abominations for some of them, resulting in having to have them destroyed before they could harm others..." Ilya continued.
"We did not want to be a part of such a program any longer as we had seen the horrors of the experiments gone wrong. The many failures, deaths, abominations created from that program gave us nightmares unto this day. After much discussion, we agreed upon a plan of escape and Ilya had sought to buy our freedom even if it meant paying with all our savings just to leave that place.
We then boarded a ship for an unknown destination. We never realized until after disembarking, that we had reached the United States of America. I was heavily pregnant with Dante and close to giving birth when we landed. I was rushed to a local hospital..." Mara explained.
