It's been five years since that night of love and confessions. It's been five years to this day, and they couldn't be happier. It took years for Seonghwa to get over his trauma, or at least to stop getting those continuous nightmares.
He felt free and Hongjoong was the reason. He couldn't be more thankful to his significant other.
. . .
Hongjoong ran around his and Seonghwa's shared apartment in search of something. He was clearly stressed and confused as to where it could've been. Seonghwa on the other hand was busy writing his newest novel in his office as his fiancé turned into a frantic squirrel the longer said item remained uncovered.
It was funny to him, watching as his fiancé ran around with tiny strides. He truly was the definition of tiny.
"Babe, what are you doing? You've already looked over there. The angels not gonna appear out of no where." He chuckled as he shifted his glasses on his nose.
His door was creaked open a small fraction, so whenever Hongjoong ran past he could see his figure disappearing and reappearing.
There was no response, but he could hear socked feet running across the linoleum flooring. He knew what to expect, so he pushed back from his desk and waited.
As anticipated, Hongjoong burst into the room with a wobbled lip. Quickly he sprinted over to Seonghwa and jumped on his lap, with his arms tied securely around his neck.
"Hwa, if I don't find the angel, we won't be able to put it on the Christmas tree. That's gonna be a Christmas bummer." He moped into his neck.
Seonghwa smiled fondly at his lover, snaking his arms around his waist and slotting them together.
"Baby, it's ok. That angel was worn out already. That's why I bought a star instead." He responded with a hint of a smile in his tone.
It piqued someone's attention.
"Huh, you got a star!" He beamed once he pulled away to look into his eyes.
If Seonghwa wasn't considered a star, he'd so believe Hongjoong was with those starry eyes.
"Let's put it on the tree ok." He slowly got up from his seat with Hongjoong slotted around his waist.
"Yeah."
. . .
Once Summer came around, the couple made their way over to a hill since today was special. Well, what they were about to do was special. Hongjoong had been anticipating this day, going around their home and preparing snacks so that they could have a picnic once they were done.
Seonghwa sat on the side, watching with adoration in his eyes. Even after all these years, he still couldn't get over the fact that this was his fiancé. All his and nobody elses.
"Hwa, hurry up we need to get up there now." He jumped for joy, holding up his shovel and sprinted up the hill.
He nearly fell at least four times, and you bet Seonghwa yelled at him for not being careful.
Eventually, they made it up the hill, both panting from the hard workout.
"Gosh, am I really that unfit?" Hongjoong questioned, using the shovel as a stand to hold himself up.
"You bet." He giggled, soon running away once Hongjoong chased him with the shovel.
This is the life he always wanted.
A life he thought he'd never be able to experience.
He'd thank god everyday for this gift.
"Ok, ok stop. Let's bury it here." Seonghwa halted by a fresh patch of dirt on top of the hill and motioned the male over. They had grown bored of running by now so they just wanted to get this over and done with.
