two. || burn.

The fire was crackling and Aurora was enjoying the carefree atmosphere of the glade. Some of the boys were dancing to music coming from Aurora's Walkman and a makeshift speaker. Some were just talking and lauging, and others were eating. Newt was sitting with Zart and Maxy, some boys were whispering and pointing at the Greenie.

Aurora was sitting on a log when she felt it tilt, she looks over and sees Kenny smiling at her holding two drinks in his hands, he the hands one to her. She doesn't like the taste of the mystery drink, rather she likes the feeling she gets after drinking it.

The funny but good feeling in her stomach and the stress free feeling. Though, she often wonders what it actually is she's drinking. Despite her curiosity on what the drink contains she thanks Kenny and drinks it anyway.

"Do you have it?" He whispers while scooting closer. She rolls her eyes before reaching in her back pocket. "I'm not a drug dealer, Kenny. But i do." She sighs and opens up the little box. Inside was a lighter and tubes of rolled up paper.

Kenneth reaches his hand to grab one but Autora slaps it away, he retracts his hand in defeat. "I guarantee they'll notice if we grow or ask for more. So we gotta ration it, for those especially shitty days. Okay?" Aurora takes out her pinky, and they pinky promise it.

It may be childish, but Aurora and Kenny never break them. They've taken a liking to making pinky promises, they're still not adults after all.

After about half an hour of back and forth conversation between Kenneth and Aurora, the greenie comes wondering over. He looked tired and was twiddling his thumbs.

"You alright Maxy?" Aurora asks him. He looks up at Aurora for a few seconds then looks down again. "Um...Newt said I was sleeping in your hut?" He asks, hinting he wants to go to bed.

"Mhm, You can sleep on the hammock. Did Newt show you where my hut is?" She asks and he nods. "Okay, Are you alright on your own?" He nods again.

She grabs one of the wooden torches and lights it with her lighter. "It's heavy so I would use two hands, just put it on the stand outside the hut. Goodnight Maxy." She tells him, Kenny waves goodbye. Maxy walks away.

"Cute kid, the greenie?" He wonders, Aurora nods.

Maxy wonders towards Aurora's hut, at a slow but steady pace. He's confused but too tired to ask much more. But he's not tired enough to forget about the fear he has walking around in this unknown place in the dark.

He reaches the hut door and was just about to open it before some boys jumped out from behind a bush. Maxy screamed and dropped the wooden torch.

The boys were laughing and high fiving each other. Maxy was angry but mainly still scared. The boys continued to celebrate their stupid scare until they saw the orange glow from behind Maxy.

Aurora's hut was on fire, and it was spreading quickly. One of the boys told everyone to get away from the fire and another grabbed Maxy out of the way, and they started screaming fire.

Nearly everyone back at the bonfire heard the screams, but only around half cared. Everyone started to rush towards the ruckus, Alby and Aurora leading the crowd. They traced the screams to Aurora's hut.

Her heart dropped when she saw her hut on fire, she brought her hands to her face and paused for a second.

She didn't waste one more second and rushed into the burning hut. Alby and Gally tried to grab her but she was already in there.

Alby knew she was stupid but not that stupid. She wouldn't waste time in there, only grabbing what's important.

She had to make a quick decision, she couldn't save everything. The first thing she grabbed was her Bow and Quiver. Then her picture, then some of her knives. Luckily, her Walkman was still being used back at the bonfire.
