I was tired walking home after a long double shift at my job. I'm a mall cop and usually nothing happens, but tonight I was running all over the mall dealing with troublemakers. Fireworks in the bathroom, food fights, violent arguments. You name it, it happened. I was working alone because my shift partner's wife was pregnant. I decided to take a short cut though an ally. It would shave ten minutes off my walk. As I walked though, I felt someone watching me. I quickly turned around, but I couldn't see anyone. I hurried home. Finals tomorrow, and I needed some sleep. When I arrived I locked the front door, then I checked all the doors and windows. All locked. I sighed, I don't know what I was expecting. "That's extreme paranoia, mixed with an over imagination for ya." I thought bitterly. I quickly changed into pajamas, pausing to study myself in the mirror. I am 19 and quite tall. Around 6' actually. I have super short brown hair and brown eyes. Exceedingly normal, exceedingly plain. The only not normal things about me were my hight and the fact that I live alone, and am a junior in college. I sighed and climbed into bed.
I half woke in the middle of the night, I heard shuffling sounds. I ignored it and closed my eyes, I thought I was still dreaming.
When I woke up at six to work out, go to class and take my finals, I noticed something on my bedside table. A single sunflower.
What.
In.
The.
Actual.
Fuck.
Is.
This
Shit.
I ran down the hall and slid down the banister. I live in a large-ish home in a iffy part of the city. I usually didn't have any problems, then again I have very bad luck. I checked the front door. Untouched. Cursing my stupidity, I bolted back upstairs. Heading for the one room in my house with anything remotely valuable in it, my study. I bust though the door to find the room untouched as well. I looked though everything, all doors and windows locked, nothing missing or disturbed. Only the sunflower.
