I must've fell asleep because I'd woken up at 8 am but Leah wasn't to be seen, a moment of panic going through me but when I looked at my phone I seen that there was a message from Leah, I calmed down because I knew she was safe.
'I didn't want to wake you up as you looked too peaceful and after all, every princess needs her beauty sleep. I made my way back home so I could get prepared for training. See you soon. Leah x.' At least I knew why she had left, I didn't blame her because she had nothing at my house so she could prepare for training, if only that could change...
Time went on and without realising, I was now on my way to training and the time was 9.45 am. Training started at 11 am but I had a gym session beforehand because I was hoping to be selected for the first game of the season vs Liverpool, so I wanted to be fit and able to play for that game because I did want to start the season off with a bang, the team did also, especially after the upset of not winning the league next season. Although I'm very sure that this year was ours, I just had a feeling.
As I finally made my way through the entrance of the training ground, I felt a hand on my shoulders which startled me but when I realised who it was, I wasn't so fussed.
"Morning Leah, everything okay?" I asked her, I was just making conversation and nothing too much as it was a bit early for my liking.
"Yeah everything is great. How come you are here so early?" Hmm maybe me and Leah had the same idea, I wasn't prepared for that if we did.
"That's good to hear. I have a gym session before training, nothing too much of course but just to get me moving." Not that I wanted to go to the gym because I was still very tired but it is what it is.
"Oh that makes sense now, I'm going to let you get on with that and I also need to go as I have a meeting with Jonas in 5 minutes." Leah explained, I hint of sadness in her voice. It felt almost as if she wanted to be in the gym with me. I mean I don't know why because I'm nothing special in the gym, I just get on with my own stuff because I want it to be finished with just as fast as it started.
"Okay, I hope you enjoy you're meeting and I'll see you later." I said to Leah, not that meetings are fun but I didn't really know what else to say.
After my little interaction with Leah, I made my way to the locker room so I could put my stuff away and then get ready for the gym. In my cubby I noticed a bottle of peach ice tea with a note that said 'Enjoy x.'. I assumed that this was from Leah as she was the only person on the team that knew I really liked it. And by the looks of it, she was my only other team mate that was actually in the building.
I left the locker room with a smile on my face that I just couldn't seem to erase no matter how hard I tried. The gym was fairly empty with a few of the youth players in there but they payed little to no attention to me but I wasn't bothered much. I wasn't exactly up for conversation either but if someone spoke to me then I would've replied.
I was down to my final set on the leg press then I was done for the minute. I hoped that I'd be done for the rest of the day because I didn't really like doing double gym sessions and a pitch training session. But the chances of it being just on the pitch today was pretty slim. I felt a sharp pain in my calf so I stopped what I was doing as I couldn't risk hurting it any further. I mean I'm sure it was nothing but anything is possible at this time honestly.
I made my way back to the locker room, choosing to ignore the pain in my calf because an injury would be the last thing that I needed right now. Football was my happiness and my reason to go on. And without it, it'd be fair to say that I would be very lost with no idea where to actually start.
Everyone was here now and the energy in the locker room was amazing, everyone was chattering to one another whilst some music played along in the background. This made me smile because it truly showed the togetherness off the group and we were all so close knit no matter how long each individual had been here. Whether it had been 1 day or 1 year, we all had a key part and we were just one big happy family.
We were informed that our group pitch session was to start in 20 minutes so with that, everyone made there way to their cubby so they could get prepared. I was already sorted, apart form having to fix a few loose strands of hair and taking some painkillers so the pain would ease out on my calf. I was so so certain that it was nothing and maybe it was just a bad cramp that had very long after pain.
Training was under way and today we were focusing on shooting and passing. We started off with a quick passing drill which got us moving and warmed up. Then we worked our way onto a touch and go drill which was fairly easy and nothing too much for us. The medicine had seemed to work because my calf now felt fine so I was glad with that. Our last drill began which was attacking scenarios and we all knew that they were going to be crucial as to how we performed in games, especially as we had some of the most technical and best attackers in the whole of women's football, so it'd be rude not to use that as an advantage over the opposition.
After training I had decided to get my calf checked at by the medical staff because I couldn't let this set me back at all. After a few tests and check ups it turns out that I'd slightly overstretched my Achilles tendon, nothing too serious but I had to rest it for a couple of days and to keep it iced, rested and I wasn't able to do anything too strenuous because things can go from bad to worse in a matter of seconds.
I made my way to the locker room where I was met with Jonas, he was checking to see if I was okay and I told him I needed a couple days rest so he gave me a little bit of time off so it could get healed properly. I got ready to go home, I tried to avoid most people after I had hurt myself in the gym because I can get very agitated about these things and I didn't want to be horrible to any of my team mates. So I left without saying much, not trying to be rude of course for the sake of the players because I know I can be very harsh.
