(Second Person POV)
Over the next few weeks, you use a lot of your free time to create more covers of songs by the Doodlebops. You make covers both true to the sound they have, and rock versions with your own edgy little spin on it. You switch up outfits, so that they have a similar vibe to the last one of that theme, but are still a different outfit. This way you're wearing a different thing each video, you believe this may make them a little more interesting. Of course, when you're not working on those, you're working.
Your job was the classic cashier experience. You worked at a Dollar Store, so you weren't always at the register. There was always something to do, and you might get in trouble if you spend too much time chilling and wasting time. It doesn't make too much, but you've gotten a raise so many times that you're pretty set for all the places adult money goes to when you do adult things like taxes and bills. With the additional money from Youtube, you can afford better equipment and programs to increase the quality of your videos.
Today, you're going through work as usual. You recover items on the shelves so they all look nice and full and neat. And often, you hurry back up to the register to help customers. There were never really many workers there at one time, unless it was truck day, but usually there's only to or three. Today, there were two, you and once of your managers. Unfortunately, your manager was in the back doing things that you don't have a clue how to do. Luckily, those things weren't your responsibilities.
(First Person POV)
Time is going slow today, but I have to work fast. If I'm not quick while switching between the register and the shelves, I'll have a long line with angry customers and not enough items recovered to make my bosses happy. I come around the corner to see a line of four people, though one is at the self checkout. I start cashing people out and sending them on their way, but now there's a steady stream of customers, so it looks like I won't be going back to recovering stuff anytime soon. I don't really pay too much attention to customers when they don't talk to me first, but after a few customers come and go, this mother and daughter come up to my register. The little girl is talking, she seems pretty young, because I don't understand much of what's coming out of her mouth. The mom does though, so she chats back. I didn't really listen to what they were saying, and still, I could only understand the mom. I understood one word from the kid though, "Doodlebops". Now I tune in. The mother says that she knows that the kid's excited, but she has to wait just a bit longer. The girl doesn't seem to be upset, instead of answering though, she hops in place a little.
I look up from the groceries I'm scanning, "The Doodlebops? My niece loves them." I don't have a niece.
The mom gives a tired chuckle, "Yeess, it's all I've been hearing lately."
"New episode coming out or something..?" You keep scanning and bagging the items while you talk, "I'll definitely have to tell my niece if there is."
"Ah, no no.. They're actually coming here to perform. And of course, I just have to get her there to see them. She's been looking forward to it for nearly a week.."
When she mentions the performance, I freeze for a second. I pick back up with my job quickly though, so I still get her out of here relatively fast. "Wow, really? They're coming to this town?" The mother nods, "I'll look into that for sure, I'm confident my niece would love it."
I finish scanning, take the money she holds out to me, and finish up the transaction. We wish each other a good rest of the day as she heads to the door and out of sight. Honestly, I'll probably be thinking about this for the rest of my shift.
(Second Person POV)
And you do, the thought of seeing them live almost consumes your mind. When you get home, you look up the concert to see when, where, and how much. It's not too much, 36 bucks to get a good seat. That's a lot less than like, Harry Styles or something. Your finger heads towards the buy button, but you pause briefly. You might just be the only adult with no kid there. You decide that it's worth the occasional weird look, and purchase the tickets. Now, you just have to wait.
