Chapter 2
George was a muscular and tall brunet with dark brown eyes. He looked to be in his early twenties, he said nothing as we walked down the long corridors.
"So why exactly do you guard Vince?" I asked trying to create conversation. I watched as his face remained insipid.
"Mr. DeNiro is a very powerful man." Was his answer. "If he's so powerful, why haven't I heard about him until now?"
"Maybe you haven't been looking in the right places." He countered, his lip pulling up at the side before fading into his previous characterless expression.
I was shocked slightly by his humor.
"So is this really what the Mafia is like? I always wondered, do you just make people disappear and make them go swimming with the fishes?"
"You'll have to ask Mr. DeNiro, Kaelyn." He said my name as if it were some way to shut me up. I shook my head.
"Your room." He stopped in front of a door opening it. I walked in skeptically, the room was all white, what was it with him and white?
There was a large four poster bed in the center of the room, with a door to the right and to the left, one I assumed was the bathroom and the other a closet. A large flat screen mounted on the wall, a window that looked out to the back yard, a nightstand on either side of the bed, and a dresser in the corner.
"Thank-" I turned to say thank you only to see George gone. How do they do that! I sat down on the bed, I nearly melted, my bed at home was nothing compared to this.
Home, I wondered what mom and dad were doing. Kara, my sister, was probably watching Secret Boyfriend since there was a marathon today. I wish I could talk to them, but I knew it would be impossible seeing as though my phone was taken from me.
I immediately wondered where the suitcase that I packed was. I got off the bed going to the door on the right. There was nothing but a walk in closet, it was empty, I went to the door on the left, and it was a smaller closet with a long rod where clothes were to be hung. Would I really need all this closet space?
I would just have to ask Vince where exactly where my suitcase was. Hopefully he was done with Clyde and I could get my suitcase. Powerful Mafia leader or not you can't just take a person's belongings.
I went to the white door looking left and right I tried to remember which way George brought me, I went with right. You can't go wrong with right, right?
As I walked down the long hallways I became paranoid. The hallways were just too quiet and eerie, I found myself looking over my shoulder every so often, only to find nothing.
I'd been walking for what felt like twenty minutes, I'd made turns that were probably all wrong.
I just want my damn suitcase!
That's when I heard it. The muffled yelling, it was getting louder as I neared a corner. One large man stood in front of the double doors. Jackpot. I'd finally found his office. When he spotted me he immediately moved closer to the center of the two doors blocking any of my thoughts of entering the room.
As I got closer to the door I realized he was the same man from before, Victor. Victor was first to speak.
"The boss is having a meeting." He had an Italian accent, and it was intense, how hadn't I heard it before?
"I know that, I just want to ask him-" "The boss is in a meeting." He said more sternly, putting emphasizes on each word. I could see his thick eyebrows crease beneath his dark shades as if he were glaring at me.
