Chapter 7
Beck, Fabio, and Anthony left to go to Russo's territory in the morning. I was somewhat surprised Beck went, she stilled looked like hell.
When breakfast rolled around I ate quietly beside Vince as everyone around me engrossed themselves in conversation. I picked at the blueberry pancakes, not really in the mood to eat. My ribs kept me up most of the night, with every breath I took it felt like I was being gut punched. Hence why I had dark circles along with under my eyes.
All in all I looked like I'd gotten run over by a bus, and I felt like it too. Many of the people who saw me made it their business to tell me how "pretty" I looked today.
"Is my cooking that bad?" Asked Adrian from across the table. Today his hair was combed back out of his face leaving his light green eyes on display. He was wearing a dark green polo and dark jeans.
I tried to muster up a laugh but ended up groaning instead. Vince turned his head to look at me.
"What was that?"
I rose an eyebrow dumbly, "what was what?"
"Are you okay Kaelyn?" Asked Adrian drawing my attention back to him. I nodded slowly. "Just some pain in my ribs," I pushed my chair away from the table and stood up, "I think I'm actually going to go lay down."
The little motion I did made me want to cringe. I was sure my ribs were bruised now.
Michael met me at the door, his eyes giving me any uneasy look. "We can take the elevator." Michael offered after he closed the doors to the dining room.
"There's an elevator?" I would have taken the elevator rather than those deadly stairs every day.
He nodded. I followed him down the pathway between the two staircases and to an elevator door, beside it a gold button. The door slid open and Michael gestured for me to go in.
"So I'm guessing you've got a few bruised ribs." Michael said after the door closed. I nodded leaning against the wall to support most of my weight.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," he shook his head crossing his colorful tattooed arms over his chest, "Vince doesn't know does he?"
"It's no big deal-" "Bullshit. I've have had bruised ribs before, I know you can barely breathe." The doors of the elevator opened. Michael walked out I walked after him, we made a few turns until I saw my familiar door.
Michael opened the door and made a face at my dirty room. A lot of my clothes were thrown around, I hadn't found the time to hang things in the closet.
"Aren't girls supposed to have cleaner rooms than guy?" Michael asked as he picked up my boot that was at the end of my bed.
I ignored him throwing back the covers and laying down immediately feeling better.
"Need anything before I go?" He questioned stretching. "Could you turn on the TV?" I still didn't know how to work the thing.
Michael nodded pressing a button on the bottom of the television making it come to life. He came by my bedside and passed me a remote.
