"So when are you going to see Carlos the next time?" My best friend looks at me with hopeful eyes. Why do I have the feeling she is more excited about this whole Carlos story then I am? I mean who am I kidding? I am so excited. I feel like I'm 16 again, falling for a boy for the first time again. I completely forgot how nice this feeling can be. Well not really forgotten, more like I tried to protect myself to ever feel like that again.
I sigh. Of course I'm happy how good things are going with Carlos, but it also scares me. It's almost like it's going too well. There must be a catch. I'm too scared to even think about that, so for now, I'm just going to enjoy it - whatever 'it' is at the moment.
"Li, are you okay?" Torn out of my thoughts I look at her.
"Yes, why?" I need to stop getting trapped in my thoughts. It's becoming one of my habits lately and it's getting out of hand.
"You look like something is worrying you. Did something happen with you and Carlos in the bakery? Are you not going to see each other again?" She breathes in, anticipating my answer.
"What, no! It was good. Nothing happened." What a lie. Something did happen and just the thought of it makes my skin hot and covered in goosebumps. It was only a kiss. A hot kiss to be precise.
"You are such a bloody liar. What happened?" I can't help but smile.
"Oh my god, did you sleep with him?" She almost screams and I immediately turn my head to the kitchen door to take a look through the small window, hoping no one just heard that. But from what I can see, the bakery is extremely busy so Flora hopefully didn't hear that. Because of Rae's loud mouth she knows more than enough and definitely more than I would like her to know anyways.
"Could you please speak a little louder?" I don't think the people in the shop next door could hear you!" I say sarcastically.
"Liana Panza, you are not funny. So tell me now. What happened and please tell me if you slept with Carlos it was not here."
My mouth drops. What does she think of me?
"Jesus, Liana! Not here. Where? But how was it?" She now gives me a mischievous grin.
"I can't believe you! We did not sleep with each other. It was just a kiss."
"Oh."
"Yes, oh. And why do you think I would tell you how Carlos is in bed? And why do you even care? You have Lando." I give her a challenging look.
"You know how I am, I want to know everything." She really thinks that she can use that excuse for everything. She is unbelievable, but I love her and that will never change.
There is a knock on the door. Who knocks on our door? A second later, Flora's head pops in the kitchen. "Guys, sorry to bother but there is someone in the front named Kelly and Max, with a little kid and they want to see you."
"Flora, since when are you knocking on the door?" Rae and I look at her confused.
"You are still my boss. I didn't want to run into something you don't want me to know." Once again she shows us why she is the employee ever.
"Don't worry, Flora. There is nothing to hide from you. You can tell them to just come into the kitchen. It's okay." Rae smiles at her.
Shortly after she disappeared, Max, Kelly and a little girl entered our kitchen.
"So good to see you, guys." Rae hugs both of them while I'm still standing in the back, not too sure how to act since the only time I saw them was at the club a few weeks ago. But Kelly took the decision rather to go for a hug as well or not from me when she pulled me into a hug as well.
