Stefania's POV

Growing up I had a great childhood, I lived with two amazing parents in Greece. They were super supportive throughout my life until now and helped me so much in achieving my dreams. I got to be a professional singer, actress and YouTuber. I do remember throughout my childhood years in school, I didn't have the typical Greek accent as other kids had in school and got made fun of a lot due to that. My parents told me that I was actually half Dutch due to some of their relatives. Little did I know at the time it was a blatant lie.

Over the years as I grew up I learned to embrace my Dutch side although it made no sense to me in the first place. I participated for the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in a girl group in 2016 coming in 8th place. I met my best friend in the Netherlands too, her name is Luna and she came second in the national selection for the contest in 2015. I even learned Dutch and became fluent in it. I then got to represent Greece in the Eurovison Song Contest in 2020, due to covid however it got cancelled. Luckily I got to represent Greece again in 2021 and came 10th in the end. It was an amazing experience that I wouldn't ever forget. When I turned 20 this year, I got the shock of my life from my parents that I wouldn't have ever guessed. That day is still something I would never forget.

"Happy birthday Stefania."My parents cheered as they sang along.

"Thank you so much guys, you are the best parents I could've ever asked for."I spoke hugging them while they looked back uncomfortably.

"Is something wrong guys?"I asked concerned at their sudden change in behaviour.

"We have something to tell you Stefania."My dad spoke up slowly.

"Is everything okay?"I asked again now seriously worried.

"The thing is, w-we a-aren't your real p-parents."My mom muttered out slowly.

The minute I heard those words, I didn't know what to say. There were several questions spinning around in my head. I didn't even remember anything apart from living in Greece my whole life and now I find out its all a lie?

"W-what do you mean?"I asked them slowly.

"You're real parents live in the Netherlands, that is why you're half Dutch."My father replied.

"How come I don't remember anything?" I asked them.

"You were so little, barely a year old. You're real father never wanted to keep you. He was a good friend of ours so we accepted his offer to take care of you. Your family is somewhat famous in the Netherlands and only recently there's been news that your father has been arrested, so we thought this was the best time to tell you."My mother spoke, the last part confusing me.

"D-did t-they abandon me, what about my mother?"I asked.

"Your father was a very stubborn person, quite controlling to actually your mother had no choice I would say she tried to fight for you."My father replied back.

"You even have an elder brother, he is 25 right now. He also went through a lot of physical abuse and even got brainwashed by his father a lot. They finally managed to put him behind bars so they might be trying to look for you."My mother replied as I pieced the information together.

"W-what is my family's name?"I asked slowly.

"The Verstappen's."My father replied.

My eyes widened in shock from what I heard, I was a Verstappen. One of the most famous names in motorsport history in the Netherlands. Luna was a big fan of formula 1, and she talked about it all the time.

"You mean to say Max Verstappen is my brother!"I shouted in shock.

"Y-you know him?"My mother spoke.

"Luna is a big formula 1 fan, she speaks about him every time."I replied back.

"Stefania, I'm truly very sorry the both of us are that we lied to you."My father replied back guilt in his voice.

"No no don't be please, you guys took care of me all these years and helped me achieve my dreams. You will always be my parents, I love you guys."I replied hugging them as we all cried a bit.

That day had been a roller coaster of emotions for me and I was more determined than ever to find my family and get to know their side of the story.
