"Call me when you need some love."

I sat in traffic, waiting for the light to finally turn green with a pit in my stomach and couldn't stop my hands from shaking or sweating. The light turns green eventually as I speed off on the freeway trying to gather my nerves.

I found myself pulling into Billies driveway and I turn off the car but didn't get out for a few minutes. I just sat there thinking of what I was going to say to her, too worried if I said the wrong thing she'd get upset.

I get out of the car and slowly walk up to the front door and ring the doorbell once and patiently wait. I could hear footsteps as I grew more anxious and eventually the door opened.

"Well look who it is, I thought I'd never see or hear from you again. Thought you fell off the grid or something."

"I know I'm sorry. Can I come in...so I can explain?" She steps aside letting me in and I  walk to the couch, kick my shoes off and hug my knees to my chest as she comes and plops down next to me.

Her eyes go to my hand as she grabs it getting a better look at my ring. "So when did she propose?" She lets my hand go as I rest my chin on top of knees.

"It's not an engagement ring it's a promise ring...just a promise ring nothing else. I was scared to tell you because I thought you'd be upset." I turn my head away from her not wanting her to see me cry.

"Mani what would I be upset for?" She scoots closer to me turning my head by my chin making me face her again. "I don't know I'm just trying to give April a chance because maybe she has changed."

"There's nothing wrong with that, if you feel like she deserved a second chance then that's up to you." She was gently rubbing my shoulders trying to get me to calm down from my tearful outburst.

"I know I was just so caught off guard when she gave me the promise ring and her doing that I knew once you found out I didn't want you to feel like you were going to lose me again."

A slight look of sadness washes over her face. She says nothing but only leans in giving me a tight hug. "I'll tell you as many times as you want me to, I promise we aren't going to lose each other again."

I hoped to whoever was out there listening that she was right. I didn't care what happened in my life I don't think I can peacefully live life again if Billie ever became a stranger to me.

"No matter what happens I swear I support you in everything you do. So if that means one day you might possibly end up marrying April I'll be right by your side...through the wedding and all."
