6 YEARS AGO..𝟏𝟒 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐎𝐋𝐃 Ashanti laid in bed asleep with 16 year old Dayvon at the foot, also asleep. They had no idea of what was happening today, and that was the worst part.
"Guys, wake up babies." Jayda tapped the two children, waking them out their sleep.
"Yes." Ashanti rubbed her eyes, Dayvon sitting up with an annoyed look.
"Listen, I need to talk to y'all. Demari!" Jayda called him into the room, and he sighed, already knowing the news he had to break to the kids.
"No! No! Please don't leave me bubs!" Ashanti cried into Dayvon's chest. His mother was moving back to Chicago from Atlanta, and Ashanti was dreading it. Dayvon became one of her closest friends over the years, and she couldn't imagine how it would be not seeing him anymore. She wasn't even prepared, just getting the news this morning, but when it was time, reality hit her like a ton of bricks."Stop it tee, i'ma come back. I promise. When I turn 18, I'm coming back. For you." He kissed Ashanti's forehead, hugging her tightly.
"Ion understand why he couldn't just stay with me, Rachel. You never wanted him before, now all of a sudden you good and healthy, you wanna take him from all he knew growing up." Demari argued with his step-mother, getting more frustrated by the minute.
"Because he's my son, Demari. I was getting better for him, and he's coming with me. If you have a problem with that, well, nobody really cares, once you get any type of custody, then you can talk. And plus, it's better for him to be around family." Rachel explained, mugging Demari. Once Demari turned 18, he attempted to get full custody. However, that backfired because Rachel lied about Demari being an abusive person, showing them bruises that she had put on herself and other stuff.
"He ain't been to Chicago since he was a baby, he don't know none of them people. You taking him away from his brother, his friends, and his best friend. You selfish." He mugged Rachel , crossing his arms.
Jayda stood to side with a sad expression on her face. She knew that Rachel was just doing this to hurt Dayvon for what his father did to her, and it broke her heart that she couldn't do nothing about it. Von was like a baby brother she never had, and she was losing him now. And she also knew that Demari's heart was hurting knowing that his brother that he'd taken care of since he was a toddler, was leaving him.
"I don't care Demari, you're not the parent, you never were. Dayvon let's go, let go of that lil girl cause she's not your future. You'll find new friends." Rachel grumbled, pulling Dayvon away from Ashanti.
"No! Demari!" Ashanti looked over to Demari for help, but he couldn't do anything, and that broke him. He knew that Dayvon was definitely Ashanti's happy place, because ever since his best friend, T Roy died when he was younger, he was always quiet, but Ashanti changed that.
"I love you Tee." Dayvon mumbled, his eyes on the girl's as he walked away with his mother.
"I love you too grandson." She cried, knowing that was her last time seeing Von.
"Jayda." Her voice cracked as she hugged the woman tightly, tears pulling from Jayda's eyes as well.
"I know, I'm sorry baby, i'm so sorry." Jayda kissed the girl's face as she sobbed. Demari walked inside his home with an unreadable expression.
"Y-you have to get him back, please JayJay." Ashanti whimpered, her heart breaking slowly.
"I know boo— shit." Jayda kissed Ashanti's forehead, before looking up, seeing Ashanti's parents rushing towards them. Jayda tried to keep the girl as long as she could 4 years before, but Ashanti's parents came to her home with the police and took Ashanti. It was considered kidnapping taking someone else's underage child.
"I don't wanna go home, I wanna stay here with you and Dee." Her voice cracked, looking up at the older girl.
"Stop it tee, stop." Jayda pouted, kissing the girl's tears away.
"I love you so so much babygirl. You always gone be von best girl and you know that. He not gone ever forget you mama." She said, before Ashanti was roughly grabbed by her mother.
"Don't grab on her like that, fuck?" Jayda grumbled, her blood pressure rising.
"Or what? You can't do a fuck ass thing. This MY daughter." Camilla shot back, before walking away, her husband trailing behind.
Jayda didn't mean for none of this to happen, and she knew this really hurt Dayvon and Tee.
Rachel tore them apart.
