❥Shahzain❥
My blood boiled as I glared at Sobia’s family, fury simmering just beneath the surface. My vision darkened as I imagined what could have happened if I hadn’t arrived in time. My gaze shifted to Falaq, standing in the corner of the hall with her hands covering her mouth, tears streaming down her face. The sight of her only deepened the bitterness in my mood.
I had been on my way home from the office when I received Falaq’s text, saying it was an emergency concerning Sobia. Without a second thought, I turned the car around and sped towards Sobia’s house. When I walked in, the scene that greeted me unleashed the beast within. Adeel—Sobia’s brother—had raised his hand against her, my wife.
Shaking my head, I forced myself out of the memory.
The moment I looked at Sobia, my rage softened. Her vulnerability tugged at something deep within me. I extended my hand toward her. She blinked, still in shock, her eyes flicking between me and my outstretched hand. After a brief hesitation, she swallowed hard and finally placed her hand in mine.
I helped her to her feet, her grip weak but trusting. As she stood, I could see the strain in her eyes, the weight of everything she had been through, and for a fleeting second, I wanted to pull her into my arms—to shield her from this nightmare. But now wasn't the time.
I shifted my gaze back to her family, my jaw tightening. "This ends now," I said coldly, making sure each word was laced with a threat they wouldn't forget. "No one will ever lay a hand on her again."
Sobia's hand trembled in mine, but she stood straighter, finding strength in the moment.
Adeel, her brother, glared at me with fiery eyes before shifting his attention to Sobia. She immediately stepped behind me, as if seeking protection from his looming presence.
"She only got saved because of Shahzain. Otherwise..." His voice trailed off.
My jaw tightened, the weight of his insinuation fueling the fire within me. Without thinking twice, I closed the distance between us, every step charged with fury. Grabbing his collar in a tight grip, I pulled him towards me, my voice low but dripping with menace.
"Otherwise, what?" I growled, tightening my hold on him, daring him to finish his sentence. His smirk faltered for a brief moment as the tension in the room thickened, but he quickly recovered, his arrogant stare meeting mine head-on.
"You think you can intimidate me?" Adeel spat, attempting to pry my hand off his collar. "I’m not scared of you. Not now, not ever."
Sobia tugged gently at my arm, her voice barely a whisper. "Please, let it go."
But I wasn’t done. Not yet.
“You think hiding behind Shahzain’s will save you?" Adeel sneered, eyes flicking to Sobia. "She’s only delaying the inevitable. You’ll see what happens when he’s not around."
