'The person you are calling is busy. Try again later.'

A sigh escaped my lips as I glanced at Sobia's name flashing on my mobile screen. With a resigned shake of my head, I shut the phone off and placed it on the desk, letting it rest beside the scattered papers.

The silence in the room seemed to grow louder as I leaned back in my chair, running a hand through my hair. It wasn’t like her to ignore my calls. A dull unease settled in the pit of my stomach. Maybe she was just busy, or maybe something was wrong.

I stared at my phone, debating whether to call again. After a moment, I decided against it—I didn’t want to bother her, especially if she was busy at work.

Turning my attention back to the open file in front of me, I tried to focus on the report I was supposed to be finishing. Yet, my thoughts kept drifting back to Sobia—her quiet voice, the look in her eyes the last time we spoke, and the weight of unsaid words between us.

It's been a week since I had came to Delhi. And I missed being home. Being with Sobia. Although, we were forced to marry each other, this marriage didn't felt like a burden anymore. Infact, it's felt like a blessing.

Just then, my phone buzzed, pulling me out of my thoughts. I grabbed it quickly, hoping it was her.

But it wasn’t Sobia.

My heart sank as I glanced at the screen. It was an unknown number. Reluctantly, I answered, assuming it might be a client.

“Hello?” I said, my voice tinged with disinterest.

“Shahzain?” A familiar voice spoke, making me frown.

Sensing my confusion, the caller quickly clarified, “It’s me, Rohan. Sobia’s boss.”

My heart pounded in dread, and sweat beaded on my forehead. Rohan never called before—why now? His sudden call set off alarms in my mind.

"Everything okay, Rohan?" I asked, trying to sound calm.

There was a pause on the other end, making me stand up instinctively.

"Well, when are you planning to come back to Mumbai?" he asked, his tone hesitant.

“In a few days,” I replied cautiously, unsure of where this was going.

“I think you should return as soon as possible, Shahzain,” he said, more serious now. "Sobia's health isn’t good. She fainted today."

“What??” My voice came out louder than I intended.

Rohan quickly filled me in on the details—how she collapsed, how they found her, the panic in the office.
