28. "I Hate My Mom - GRLwood"

Mike must've fallen asleep with Will as he woke up to a very panicked Eddie and Steve.
"Dude! DUDE GET UP!"
"Wha- What? Steve? Eddie?"
"Yeah, it's us. You weren't in a coma, you don't have amnesia. We know you saw us in Nancy's room not two hours ago so you knew we were here dumbass." Eddie stated in the fastest pace he had ever spoke in.
"Yeah but I didn't think you'd wake me up screaming in my face." Mike added.
"What's going on?" Will asked waking up.
"We need to go. Now." Steve said looking slightly scared.
"What, why?" Mike asked. It technically was still his house, wasn't it? Probably not.
"Your parents are back." Eddie said trying to stay calm.
"We saw them coming up the road from Nancy's room." Steve added.
"Shit. Fuck. Um...out the back!" Mike said before bolting to the back door. Everyone followed him at the same pace. Mike didn't think about how he would have to run past his parents car to leave and stopped very suddenly which made Will bump into him as he was very close behind.
"What the- Mike what the hell?!" Will whisper shouted now they were outside so no one would hear them.
"We have to go past them!" Mike hissed back.
"...shit." Eddie mumbled.
"Hang on. We'll wait for them to go in then move." Mike told the three boys behind him.

They waited until they heard the door close as that meant everyone was inside and staying as low as they could, they travelled round the side of the house to their modes of transport. Luckily, Eddie and Steve parked a house down and everyone thought Will's bike was Mike's so they ignored it. As they reached the front of the house, they heard a sound.

The front door had opened. Everyone stopped in their tracks thinking Ted was about to walk out and see them. Mike held his breath, anticipating a reprise of their fight.
"Mommy I forgot my toy can you come unlock the car?"
It was Holly. Holly had come outside.
"Mike!" She said just as the door shut when she saw her older brother stood in the front garden. She ran over to him and gave him the biggest hug.
"Hey Holly." Mike said squeezing her back.
"Mommy it's-" the girl started before Mike covered her mouth.
"Shhhhh they can't know I'm here, okay?"
"Oh..." Holly looked upset. "Are you not coming back?"
"Um...no. I can't." Mike said sorrowfully.
"Why not? Daddy was just in a bad mood I'm sure he didn't mean it."
"He did, Holly. And I'm not meant to be here now so how about we keep this a secret, yeah?"
"Okay!" Holly said. She hugged her older brother again. "Mommy's coming now."
"Crap, Mike, we gotta go." Will said, reminding him if the rest of their presence.
"Right, yeah. Holly, if I get caught you're gonna get in trouble as well, okay? So don't tell them I was here. Or any of us. You need to promise me you won't tell them."
"I won't." She looked sad again.
Mike brought his little sister into a big hug. "I'll see you soon, okay? I promise."
"Pinky?"
"Pinky." Mike said as he intertwined his little finger with hers. With that, the boys set off again. Once Eddie and Steve were in Steve's car, they were good to go and wouldn't get caught. It was just getting there.

Before they could get very far, Karen walked out.
"Mike?!" She yelled before the door could close.
"Hey, Mom." Mike said in the most monotone voice he could muster. He was scared Ted would hear. Luckily, he didn't seem to.
"What...what are you doing here?"
"Nothing. I'm -we're- leaving, don't worry." Mike said to make the other boys known.
"Mike, hunny-"
"Don't. I only came to get some stuff. Nancy's taken it back to the house." Mike spat at his mom
"Michael! I am your Mom! Don't be like that!" She retorted.
"Last I recall, Mom, you let Dad kick me out so in my books you may be my mother but you're not my mom." Mike said with a lot more sass than anticipated.
"Karen? What's going on out there?" Tes yelled from the house. The window was open but the curtains were shut so he couldn't see.
"Nothing. Everything's fine. Just can't find Holly's toy." Karen said choking back tears.
"Are you gonna let us go? Or are you gonna let Dad out for round 2?" Mike asked staring his mother down.
"Mike-" She started.
"Well?" He interrupted with a questioning and obnoxious shrug.
"Go." She said, beginning to cry.
"Thanks." Mike said, feeling a little guilty.
"Are you going?" Holly asked full of sadness.
"Yeah, we are. But you can see me soon. Nancy can bring you to see me."
"Okay. What about Mommy and Daddy? Can they come?"
"No." Mike glanced at his mom. "They can't. At least not now." He said with a final pitiful glance.
"Bye Mike." Holly said pouting.
"Bye Holly." He said smiling.

With that, the boys all left, putting Will's bike in the back of Steve's car and driving back to Will's together. They drove in silence for a while until Will felt compelled to speak.
"Are you okay?" He asked. He didn't address Mike in any way but everyone knew who he was talking to.
"Yeah. I'm good. I'm just glad we got out before Dad went upstairs." He said with a light laugh at the end.
"What would happen when he went upstairs?" Eddie asked.
"Ummm, well," Mike started. "Let's just say...they are gonna know for sure that I am 1000% gay and not a virgin." Mike said smirking.
"Wha- WHAT THE FUCK?!" Steve yelled when he realised. He whipped his head round to look at the boys and nearly crashed.
"Dude eyes on the road!" Mike yelled with a laugh. Will went completely red, however.

When the boys all pulled up at Will's, Mike got Will's bike out whilst Will was saying his goodbyes.
"Thanks for the ride, Steve." He said.
"No problem." Steve said shrugging.
"Yeah, thanks." Mike added. "Kinda don't wanna go in though..."
"Me either."
"Why not?" Eddie asked. He was always more curious...or nosy.
"Well we got in a fight with El and sent her here to cool off so I don't know if she has yet." Will explained.
"Oh...well have fun see-you-later-byeeee" Steve said really fast, pulling off. He was trying to make the boys go in to get it over with as he knew this was the best idea.

"Suppose we better go in..." Will said after a moment of just standing by the door.
"S'pose so..." Mike said. He took Will's hand and entered the door.
