I looked around at the decorations and the white walls and felt calm. Something about this atmosphere is so pure and inviting. It's like the lightness just reverberated off the walls and into whoever entered. It caused me to produce a light smile on my face, which didn't go unnoticed by the seemingly observant blonde. "So what brings you here?" she asked, leading me down a hallway and stopping in front of a door.
She opened it and I could see that it was some sort of office, so I entered behind her. She closed the door and motioned for me to sit in a chair in front of her desk. "I'm not entirely sure" I said honestly because I had no idea what this place even was. "Do you know where you are?" She asked softly and I looked up into her eyes. My god her eyes... they're beautiful I thought and it appeared as though she blushed. I looked away from her so I wouldn't get distracted again.
"In like the 'do you remember how you got here' type thing? Or just like do I know what this is?" I asked half-jokingly. "I suppose both" she says keeping a calm air about her. "I guess that's difficult to answer because I don't know" I replied truthfully. "You don't know how you got here, or you don't know where you are?" She asked somewhat confused. "Both" I said simply hoping she could somehow explain. She nodded slowly and furrowed her eyebrows as if in thought.
"Well I can't tell you how you got here" she giggled softly and it was the cutest thing. "But I can tell you where you are. This is Miss Robichaux's academy for exceptional young witches. I, along with a few others, teach witches how to control their powers" she says looking towards me. I just stare at her in complete disbelief, I mean witches are only things of movies. Yet here I am, in an academy specifically made for witches. And it would explain all the weird things that have been happening to me.
She interrupts the silence by clicking her tongue softly and I look to her. "Sorry" I said shaking my head a bit trying to return to the present. "No need to apologize, I know it can be a little overwhelming. Now, you have no memory whatsoever of how you got here?" she asks sweetly and I shake my head. "Not entirely. I mean, I was standing outside of a coffee shop and I closed my eyes for a moment. I had saw this building on tv and just felt like I needed to come here. When I opened my eyes, I was in front of the gate" I said chuckling.
"It makes absolutely no sense but that's exactly what happened" I said looking at her. Her smile has widened a bit and she had a slight twinkle in her eyes. "I think you may be a witch" she said gleefully and a chuckled. "I don't know, I think maybe I just blacked out" I said trying to find some sort of logical explanation. "Did you drink?" she asked seriously and I shook my head, "have you experienced black outs before?" she asks. I shake my head again and realize she might actually be right.
"So I'm a witch" I said quietly trying to come to terms with it. "Well, I said you might be. There's certainly more to it and we can definitely work to figure it out" she said softly. I nodded and she nodded in response and stood up. "Come with me" she said and I stood up and reached for my bags. "You can leave those" she said without turning around and then opened the door. I followed after her, feeling like a loyal puppy, and she led me outside. We went into a greenhouse and I looked around at all the plants.
"This is beautiful" I whispered and looked at her, "it is" she said proudly. She sat down on a stool and invited me to join her. I sat on the one directly next to her and she picked up a rose. "I want you to try something... this is the easiest task, that's why I usually give it to new girls. If you can't do it, that's ok, I have plenty other things you can try. It's just to see if you have powers, and if so, how strong they are" she says and hands me the rose. She grabs another for herself and begins to demonstrate what she wants me to do.
"So just... think of a color and channel your energy into the flower. If your idea or thought is clear enough, it should..." she opens her eyes and looks at the flower. It fades into a pretty shade of pink and she smiles while I looked shocked. "Change colors" she finished and looked to me as my mouth hung open. I quickly closed it and looked to my white rose getting increasingly nervous. "Take your time, sweetheart" she cooed and it was a nice gesture but did not help.
Her niceness—and not to mention the pet name—just made me more anxious. I wanted to impress her but I had no idea how to do this. I closed my eyes like she did and thought of my favorite shade of purple. I'd never seen a purple rose before, so I figured it would be exciting. I opened my eyes and the rose was still white, I sighed in defeat. "It's alright sweetie, it took me a while to get it too" she said placing her hand on my thigh. My breath inaudible hitched and I closed my eyes taking a deep breath.
When I opened them the rose was deep red, darker at the bottom and lighter on the top. She removed her hand and clapped lightly as she grinned. "That was excellent, darling! I've never seen such a solid color on the first try. It usually takes weeks for that to happen" she said looking proud. That made me reciprocate a smile just as big. "Do you know of any other powers you have? I'm assuming one is transmutation since you used that to get here" she said excitedly.
Her genuine innocence sparked something in me, it brought me complete joy. "Uhhh I've made things move before, that's all I know of" I said trying to hide my sadness. It just reminded me of what happened with my mom and how I ran. "Ok, telekinesis... could you try to move this plant over there?" she said pointing to a table not too far away. "I'm not sure if I can control it yet... it only happens when I'm angry or sad" I say quietly.
She nods like she understands and places her hand on my shoulder. "If you focus and relax it makes it much easier to control. Love is a very powerful emotion as well and can be used to execute multiple talents. The most powerful emotions are Love, Hate or Anger, and Fear. A lot of the most difficult tasks can be performed through them. They produce the most energy in us and that's why. So instead of using the more negative energy, try thinking of something you love" she advised softly.
I nodded and closed my eyes trying to think of something but the only thing I could think of was her. Her hand on my shoulder and her kind eyes, her warm smile, how her skin would feel. I opened my eyes and tried anyway, thinking it wouldn't work. Next thing I know the pot is floating and I'm following it with my eyes. I focus on setting it down but then her hand removes from my shoulder. It's like some sort of connection was broken because the pot just dropped; falling and shattering against the floor, I had failed.
I immediately bent down and started picking the pieces up, apologizing over and over. I was so scared she would get mad at me, it reminded me of a time I dropped a glass. My mom screamed at me and hit me, telling me I was stupid. I was grounded for a week and couldn't see any of my friends except for at school. I heard the clicking of her heels approach me and then I heard something shatter. We both turned our head in the direction of the noise to find 3 pots broken on the floor.
Damn it, not again, I had once again thrown something across the room. At least it wasn't someone, I told myself relieved. My eyes searched around the room until I located a broom. I got up and quickly made my way to it so I could sweep up the things I'd broken. "I'll buy new pots, I promise" I said trying not to cry.
Cordelia's pov
I could tell she was panicking, the energy now radiating off of her was almost suffocating. I didn't know exactly what happened, before she came here. We hadn't talked about it yet and I didn't want to push her. "Sweetheart, that's not necessary" I said slowly walking over to her. She shook her head and I could see her eyes begin to fill with tears. She bent down and picked up a few pieces of the pot with her hands. "You really shouldn't do that without gl-" I tried to warn her but was cut off.
"Shit" she whisper yelled bringing her finger up to her mouth. Well I saw that one coming, but instead of getting up to clean it she just shook her hand. She continued to pick up the pieces as if she hadn't gotten cut moments before. She looked to be trying carefully this time but I was still worried. I lightly grabbed her arm and pulled her up but her gaze was still on the broken pot pieces. "Look up honey" I whispered softly and she slowly did. "I'm not angry" I said reassuringly and she seemed to search my eyes.
"Y-you're not?" she asked as if she couldn't believe the words coming out my mouth. "No. It happens all the time, trust me" I said giggling a bit to lighten the mood. She produced a nervous smile and I returned it with a small one. I snapped my fingers and the pot pieces were gone, into the trash. "That would've been helpful before I cut my finger" she said sassily but I could tell she was still a bit nervous. I couldn't wait until she came out of her shell, I felt like we'd get along well.
