"Hey, Jug?" Betty called, resting her hands on his shoulders to turn him around and face her.

"Mhm?"

"What do you say, us two, at the Blue&Gold, or anywhere else, tonight, catching up on the new issue?"

"Just us two or with Kevin?"

"Just us. And perhaps you could help me in lit. There is this essay about the fly thing"

"You mean the essay about "Holy the firm" by Annie Dillard, a whole big metaphor about writing?"

"Yeah, that one" He nodded.

"Yeah, sure, I can help. We could- We could write it together" Betty paused.

"You already finished it, didn't you?"

"Perhaps"

"I can't believe it. When did you have the time for that?"

"During class? And then the conclusion during math after I finished the exercise, it was just shortening terms and solving two formulas. Not that big of a deal, so I was done rather quickly"

"You're too smart for this school, Jughead"

"I'm just efficient, but yes, we can do that. I'm free today"

"Okay, great, thank you. Does right after school work? Because I know that it's a lot of work and I need to be home for dinner by seven"

"That should work"

"Great, I'll see you at three" Betty smiled softly, kissing him on the cheek before heading off. Jughead stood there, frozen, looking after her.

Betty just kissed him.

On the cheek, but he would ignore that part.

"Jug? You there?" Betty had asked, barely after four. By now, the two only finished up her essay, had a concept for the next issue and brainstormed on various articles for it.

"Mhm?" He asked, turning to look at her.

"You've been frozen over your paper for a whole minute" Betty said, pointing at his pen, which had already created an ink dot on the paper. Jughead sighed, rubbing his hand over his face.

"Sorry, I just- I haven't eaten all day and I'm hungry and I'm really craving some fries from Pops"

"Why didn't you say so?"

"Because we're working. I can pull through"

"No, don't. We can take a short break. I... Eating something might be nice" She smiled, already closing her binder before gathering her stuff.

"Alright, then let's go"

The two walked out of the room and got over to Betty's car. Technically, it wasn't Betty's yet. Her mother had given it to her for now though because she wouldn't need it and Betty could go to school then, especially when it rained.

"Could you drive?" Betty asked, reaching Jughead her keys. The boy nodded, taking them. The two got in the car and Jughead drove to Pops. They picked up some food and drinks before getting back in the car. At first they just sat in the car, talking and eating, though then Betty suggested that they should head back to work.

"You know, I should drive straight ahead, or I could take the next one right and we... just drive in a few more circles"

"That would be a waste of fuel"
