• Just some fluff (bc all these break ups in the show are still getting to us)
• pregnant!Betty but it isn't that important (or descripted in detail, just important to set off the plot)

Working at the FBI came with a few difficulties. Some cases weren't only gruesome but also a lot of time consuming. With Betty having two serial killer cases at the same time, it took a lot of her time. Jughead tried his best to support her but it wasn't like he was off any better at the moment. While his girlfriend had leads on both cases, he was tapping in the darkness, all leads going the wrong way. Given, the first case had been cold the past three years and they only recently got a new tip. They shared the second one as partners. It only recently fell into their hands though. Jughead offered to take it with someone else but Betty refused, saying that they needed to work together to put an end to this. They were one of the best teams after all. Living in Riverdale and solving mysteries at least taught them some things which were useful now — aside from the trauma.

Recently, or more for the past four months, Jughead has been doing more than usually though. He had been taking things from her whenever he could, whether that was by carrying her bag or by offering to take short walks to the kitchen, so that she didn't have to get up. He did that ever since Betty told him that she was pregnant.

Now that the week was finally over, it being Friday, Jughead thought about surprising her. He planned to pick her up in her office, then they would hold at some drive in to get dinner and drive to the lake close to their apartment complex to have some relaxation during sunset.

That was the plan.

The first step already went wrong. Jughead planned on picking her up. In the end, he was still stuck with some video tapes, eyes glued to the monitor and searching through the pictures. Trying to find anything — every little clue could help figure out the bigger picture.

When two arms wrapped around him, he jumped, turning to face the person. Though upon seeing Betty, he relaxed, leaning into her touch.

"It's just me, babe"

"What are you doing here? I though that I would pick you up once you finish work?" Jughead asked.

"Yes, that's what you said but it's been over half an hour since I finished. Did you forget to watch out for the time yet again?" She asked, chuckling before kissing him on the cheek. Jughead looked at the time and then gasped.

"Shit, right. Sorry. I was- I just wanted to take a quick look at those video tapes. Let me just- I'll just log out, okay? I'll be right with you"

"No hurry, Jug, don't worry" She kissed his cheek again while Jughead quickly closed the tap before logging out of his account. He took the tapes and put them in their cases before storing them in his locker. He locked it with his keys before straightening up.

"Okay, I'm done. We can go" Jughead said, wrapping an arm around her in order to pull her in a kiss "Sorry that I kept you waiting. This is supposed to be your day"

"Oh I don't mind to wait, not for you"

"Still, I won't keep you waiting any more" Jughead pulled away from her, though only to grab her hand before starting to walk. They locked out of their accounts before leaving the building to get to the car.

"You still haven't told me what exactly you've planned" Betty said as the two sat in the car. Jughead was driving, one hand resting on Betty's thigh.

"Because it's a surprise" Jughead said, chuckling. He gave Betty's thigh a squeeze before focusing back on the road. Outside of town, Jughead parked the car in a small parking lot, barely fitting three cars.
