Imagine: "we're just friends"
2018, Spain
Y/n's POV
Me and my best friend Gabriel were at school together
We were in class I was taking notes as I was supposed to when the teacher started ranting and my brain disassociated because I lacked interest in the topic
I started thinking about things, my life what I invision myself doing after school and well Gabriel
He's my boy best friend but although we say were just friends that's never actually been the case or at least not from my perspective
"Miss L/n" My teacher said snapping me out of my daydream "yes?" I said acting like I wasn't staring off into space as per usual
"When was the Eiffel Tower build and what reason was it built" the teacher asked me
"The Eiffel Tower had its construction started on January 28th 1887 then was completed in March 15th 1889 and opened to the public on March 31st 1889 and The design of the Eiffel Tower is attributed to Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, two senior engineers working for the Compagnie des Établissements Eiffel. It was envisioned after discussion about a suitable centerpiece for the proposed 1889 Exposition Universelle, a world's fair to celebrate the centennial of the French Revolution" I said like a nerd, I'm not a nerd I'm just fascinated by history buildings and such
"Very Good Miss L/n" my teacher said smiling I just nodded smiling
Gabriel was watching me with a smile as normal, I just went back to my work
The bell rang shortly after and it was now time for lunch
I carefully grabbed all of my things and walked out into the hall with all of my fellow students (some of whom I would have liked to "accidentally" knock over and let them fall on their faces)
"Y/n wait up" Gabriel said trying to catch up with me, I just kept walking not ignoring him but also not acknowledging him
"Y/n hold on what's with the whole ignoring me thing?" He asked running a hand through his messy hair (typical of him)
"I'm not ignoring you" I said still not paying attention to him
"Yes you are n/n" Gabriel said laughing, boom boom boom there's my half dead heart
I just rolled my eyes and went to sit with our group of friends
We had our lunch, the boys decided to start a food fight not with the entire cafeteria again this time thankfully
"Y/n do you have a crush on anyone?" One of the other girls in our friend group asked teasingly, "no" I said texting on my phone
"Yeah because she knows her and Gabriel will never happen" a boy in our friend group said laughing, so did Gabriel and the rest of our friends
My heart fell and I stopped texting for a moment and frowned but knew I shouldn't show weakness about the situation and kept doing what I was previously doing
Don't let a stupid teenage boy break your heart y/n, my brain told me and I knew that was the truth
Stay focused on your goals not try to mend a broken heart
I didn't say anything after that and once the bell rang for us to go back inside I booked it, thankfully I didn't have anymore classes with Gabriel for the day
I went to practice (I figure skate) and had a good training session and then went home
Gabriel's POV
I went home after a long day of school, I texted y/n but she didn't answer me which I wasn't shocked by I knew she had figure skating practice today as she does Monday through Friday, doesn't do weekends majority of the time
I sent her a text when I knew she would be out, still didn't respond maybe she was tired which is understandable she's working hard
So I decided to text her in the morning
Next Day
I texted y/n before I went school she didn't respond still, I began to worry maybe she wasn't feeling well
I got to school and I tried talking to her but she didn't respond nor look at me
I didn't understand what I did to upset her
A Couple Days Later
3rd Person POV
Y/n has been avoiding Gabriel like the plage
Gabriel was heartbroken as he didn't understand what the problem was
Y/n just kept to herself
Gabriel finally decided he needed to know what the problem is, so he waited until y/n got home from figure skating and went into the house (yes her parents knew he was there)
Y/n knew he was there as he was just sitting on her bed she didn't say anything to him, she put her stuff away and changed into pajamas (she showered already)
Gabriel looked at her but she didn't look at him
Gabriel got closer to her, "why are you here Gabriel?" Y/n said acknowledging him for the first time in days
"Why are you ignoring me" he said getting very up close and personal
"Because" y/n said not giving him a reason, he looked her up and down knowing she was lying to him, after all they have known each since they were 4
He put his hand under her chin feeling her heartbeat through her neck
Y/n felt her heart rate rise, she couldn't help herself
"Gabriel" y/n said in a soft whisper
Gabriel knew his feelings were rolling out again as they did before
"We shouldn't do this we're only just friends" y/n said shaking her head, Gabriel did the same "mi amore we were never just friends and you know that" Gabriel said telling y/n the truth
Y/n knew but her brain and heart were fighting her on the thing
Gabriel knew y/n was struggling to get herself to believe this was real & he wanted to be with her
Gabriel softly kissed her taking away any doubt she had before hand, y/n returned the kiss but pulled away because yeah let's not take it that far
Gabriel cuddled her into his chest, not wanting to leave her but he knew he wasn't going to have a choice as his dad wanted him home soon and her dad would probably kill him
He carefully took off his hoodie and gave it to her, along with the present he got her... a promise ring
He put that on her finger "I love you" Gabriel said giving her a hug "I love you more" y/n said hugging him back
"I'll see you tomorrow before school ok?" He asked "ok bye" y/n said smiling "bye princesa" Gabriel said walking out of the house swiftly missing y/n's parents (thank god)
Both were happy no longer in pain by the guilt of wanting something they claimed that they couldn't or shouldn't have
Love always wins
