The world seem to be really messing with Evangeline. Firstly, the carriage her and Jacks were taking to Slaughterwood Castle broke down. Secondly, it was absolutely freezing to the bone in the Magnificent North, as per usual. And lastly, her and Jacks were walking in the freezing cold during the middle of the night.

The snow was melting and crunching beneath her pink slippers. It was a soothing sound to Evangeline, it reminded her of when her mother and father used to take her to the snow. She used to build snowmen with her father, though he would always bite the end of the carrot nose before putting it on the snowman's face. She smiled at the memories, they were so sacred to her. She wanted to keep them forever.

A gust of cool wind blew by, sending chills down Evangeline's spine. She hugged herself with her arms to at least create some warmth in her body. She let out a shaky breath, her teeth chattering. Jacks turned his head over his shoulder, looking at her up and down. A small 'tsk' came out of his mouth followed with a soft chuckle. "Are you cold Little Fox?" He sounded as if he was laughing again— because of course Jacks would be entertained while she was freezing cold.

"Yes." Evangeline sighed. She rubbed her hands up and down her arms, goose-flesh covered her skin.

Jacks stopped in his tracks, taking his hands out of pockets. He took off his coat and wrapped it around her. "Here." He leaned in closer to her, his lips right next to her ear, his cold breath tickling down her neck. Evangeline could feel his mouth curl up into a wicked smirk against her ear. "You can wear this for now. But just know, you won't be wearing it later." He traced a cold, pale, slender finger down her neck, tugging at the neckline of her dress.

Evangeline was trying so hard to battle an internal war of heat that was rising to her cheeks. She of course failed, heat rose to her cheeks and lips and neck. She wasn't cold anymore. "Jacks!" She frowned, now pulling away from him. "Stop that."

Jacks couldn't take her seriously in this position. "Relax Little Fox, I was only joking." He chuckled sinisterly, Evangeline knew he enjoyed making her feel so flustered. He spun around on his heel, the snow crushing underneath his shoes. Melting at the sudden force of heat. He pulled out a dark black apple, as iridescent as the night sky. He bit down into it. A solid crunch sound came from it, blooded red juice trickled down his chin. He was rather a messy eater, but he looked so painfully handsome doing it. It pained Evangeline's heart, like a dagger slicing through it and picking out each individual heartbreak.

"You're staring again." The corner of Jacks's lip twisted up into a mischievous grin.

"I am not." Evangeline argued. She let out a huff and folded her arms over her chest.

"Whatever you say Little Fox." Jacks shrugged, it was obvious he saw right through her little pathetic lie. "I didn't know I could make you so easily flustered. It would be a shame if your 'husband' found out." Jacks's words were as cold as the tip of a blade.

"Don't— don't speak about him." Evangeline said. "I don't want to think about Apollo now."

"Oh?" Jacks turned around, walking backwards this time. "Is it because you only want to think about me Little Fox?" He grinned, licking the red juice from the apple off his lips.

Evangeline's eyes widen. She shook her head, trying to not let his words get to her. "Of course not."

"Pity." Jacks then turned back around in a sharp move and continued walking.
