"Wait jacks," she reached out to him. But before she knew it, he was walking away— and straight out the room.

........................................

You're just a tool.

Just a tool.

A tool.

You are nothing but a tool to him Evangeline.

Evangeline stood motionless in the middle of the room. The buzzing people around her went muffled, leaving Evangeline alone to the clouding thoughts rushing through her head.

"Evangeline?" LaLa's voice banished all thoughts out of Evangeline's head. "Are you alright there? You look as if you have seen a ghost just about now."

Evangeline took a deep, unsteady breath and turned to face her friend. "Yes, i am just fine. No need to worry LaLa." A weak smile trembled on her lips. She couldn't tell LaLa what had just happened between her and Jacks, LaLa would also find out that she eavesdropped on their private conversation earlier. Yet being her friend, Evangeline had no idea on how LaLa would react receiving this information.

LaLa's brows quickly furrowed, nodding unconsciously. "If you say so my friend." Her face clicked into a bright smile. "Never mind that, have you tasted the fantastic caramel tarts the chefs have prepared? They truly are divine!"

Evangeline shook her head, she tried so hard to focus on LaLa, but she found herself longing for Jacks. She needed to find him and try to talk things out with him or it will only get worse. She politely excused herself from the conversation with LaLa and picked up the skirt of her dress and quickly rushed past the crowd.

Evangeline rushed down the hallway, turning a sharp corner. She halted to a stop, crashing into a hard, blazing chest. "I'm sorry—"

"Eva?"

She stopped, her mind frozen. Her eyes flickered up to meet large dark ones glinting in wonder. "Luc?" His arms wrapped loosely around her waist, steading her from falling.

"What's the rush?" He flashed her a toothy grin, showing off his sharp fangs. Evangeline withdrew from his arms and stood back.

"It's nothing I'm just trying to find Jacks." She said urgently, standing on her tippy toes to peer over his shoulder to find any sign of Jacks.

"Oh, I see. Well last time I saw him he was—"

"Right here." An exasperated voice drifted into the hall.

All the blood drained from Evangeline's face as she slowly turned to face him. His golden hair was messy and tousled in front of his eyes. He cocked his head to the side as he came close, looking down at her intensely with those icy eyes. "Leave vampire-boy." Jacks's nasty gaze met Luc's warm ones, the opposite of Jacks's cold, hard ones.
