Hayden made his way downstairs, he was casually running around his house to find his swim stuff. He frantically searched through the laundry bin and the tumble dryer, unable to find what he was looking for, he walked around the house and found his parents outside - they were sunbathing near the pool. His mum took off her sunglasses and faced his way, she had sunscreen all over her face whilst his dad had very visible sunscreen all over his face and torso. His mum went back to reading and his dad sat drinking a cocktail.
"Mum, have you seen my wet shirt?" Hayden asked he crossed his arms in front of his torso. His mum put her Vogue magazine down and turned to face Hayden. She took a moment to think before speaking.
"Is it not in the laundry?" She asked Hayden shook his head.
"You don't need a wet shirt, it's summer," Hayden's dad said, he stood up and walked towards their pool bar, he stood behind and started to make some drinks.
"Yes, I do Dad! It's a requirement for swimming practice" Hayden answered, he followed his dad, starting to get impatient.
"Hayden, just go swimming without it, you won't die" Hayden rolled his eyes, he was about to shout back when his mum spoke.
"No need to argue, I'll find it. I'm sure it's in the house somewhere." She massaged Hayden's shoulders. His mum took a sip of his dad's drink and walked inside. Hayden sighed in relief and sat down on the bar stool, his dad looked at him and shook his head.
"You should tell her" His dad spoke and continued to make his drink, Hayden looked confused.
"Tell her what?" Hayden's head was spinning; there were countless things he didn't tell his parents.
"Your tattoos, come on I'm not an idiot Hayden." His dad cleaned up the bar and placed two drinks in front of Hayden. Hayden froze, he thought he hid his tattoos well from both of his parents.
"You're not mad?" Hayden whispered looking at the drinks in front of him. He fiddled with the little umbrella in the drinks.
"I was at first, but you hid it well so I was waiting until you told us" His dad sat down next to him and took one drink. He pushed the other one towards Hayden, Hayden stared at the drink. His dad never gives him drinks since he's too young, so why was he giving him a drink now?
"Just drink it, it's for good luck, you know for your swimming" His dad smiled as he finished his drink. Hayden hesitantly lifted the drink and took a sip, the burn of alcohol filled up his throat. His dad was staring at him, Hayden stopped drinking and started to cough. He stared at his dad as he coughed, his dad shook his head and walked away.
"I found it!" His mother came out smiling, Hayden quickly downed the drink - his throat burning really badly. His mother handed him the shirt, and Hayden started to cough.
"Hayden, are you sick? Maybe you shouldn't go swimming!" His mother grabbed his face in her hands. Hayden shook his head and stood up about to walk away when his mother grabbed his hand.
"Before you go, can you get your sister to come out of her room and join us? Thank you dear" Hayden rolled his eyes as he said yes. He walked inside their house and up the stairs. His sister's door was closed, but her music was loud enough for him to hear it. He opened the door and found his sister sitting on her bed scrolling through her phone. She looked at him and turned off the music.
"Why are you up here alone?" Hayden asked, he walked towards her bed and laid next to her.
"Those friends giving you shit?" His sister looked at him, she shook her head. Olivia turned onto her side so she was facing him.
"I just didn't feel like going out today that's all, I'll be out tomorrow," Oliva said, Hayden knew she was lying. She had been in the house all week, just in her room listening to music. Hayden smiled at her, he took her phone to see what music she was listening to.
