Chapter VII

Chapter 7: Rito Village in Chaos

Link and Tech parked their horses and tied them up at the bridge leading to the village. You see, the village was situated around a giant pillar in the middle of a lake with several islands leading up to it. The pillar had a thin round piece of rock jutting out. That is what the locals call Medoh's Perch...because that's where Medoh used to perch when Revali wasn't using it for air force or patrol.

As the two went into the village, they noticed the sour mood that hung in the air...as well as the fear.

"Why are they so sad and fearful?" Link asked.

"By my calculations, everytime Medoh completes a rotation around the village, it creeps closer to the village," Tech said, looking at his datapad before pushing his goggles up his nose.

"You mean, eventually, it will crash into the village?!" Link asked, alarmed.

"Precisely," Tech said, pointing his signature finger in the air.

"But, what's the point of that?" Link said. "Wouldn't it destroy the Divide Beast?"

"A Divine Beast is indestructible," Tech said, ignoring Link's mistake. "Well, almost indestructible."

"So...we can't kill it?" Link asked.

"No, but we don't want to," Tech said. "We simply want to take back control of the beast, that is all."

"Oh," Link said, holding his head low. "I thought-"

"Well you thought wrong," Tech said, cutting Link off. "Now, let's find out what's going on here."

They wandered through the village, looking at the people inside the huts made of wood and woven fabric.

"Curse Medoh!" Tech heard one person yell.

"Is everything alright?" Tech asked the navy blue bird sitting inside a hut.

He had a bandage wrapped around his wing, and he sat there, bow in his other wing.

"Does everything look okay?!" He harshly snapped back.

"Uhh," Tech said, not wanting to agitate the snarky bird anymore. "Who are you?"

"I'm Harth. As you can see, I'm injured. It's all because of that stupid Divine Beast. Me and my partner Teba went up to finish the Divine Beast off once and for all, but it was too strong. No one's getting past that shield. It shot me in the wing and forced Teba to rescue me," Harth said.

"Well, we plan to take back control of the Divine Beast," Tech said.

"Pah. A little Hylian-" Harth stopped when he saw Tech's round ears. "-or whatever you are...would freeze up there. Us Rito have feathers to keep us warm in the blistering cold. You two would need protective gear."

"We can get that...we just need money..." Tech said.

"You want work?" Harth asked as Tech nodded and Link just stared. "Go talk to the Elder, Kaneli."

"Alright," Tech said, as he and Link walked to the elders hut.

"More Hylians who have lost their way?" Kaneli, the elder, asked.

"No," Link said. "We're looking for work to earn money."

Kaneli studied the two. He gasped when he saw Tech's round ears.
