Wow, it's been a while!"
Riley's big brown eyes were on me as she spoke.
I was in a bit of a daze having Riley in front of me, but I snapped out of it when she spoke again.
"It has been." I said, "So...you'll be training me?"
"Looks like it, doesn't it?" Riley said back.
"Wait, how do you two know each other?" Danielle asked.
"We went to highschool together." Riley said, "We didn't know each other too well, but we had some classes together."
If only you knew the kinds of thoughts I would have about you, Riley...
Besides just a look of overall maturity, Riley didn't look much different than she did in high school.
Back in high school, her dark chocolate brown hair was a bit shorter, to her shoulders, and I could see from her slicked back ponytail that she had let it grow out. She was never one to wear much makeup back in high school, and I could see that the only makeup she was wearing was some mascara around her brown eyes. Her eyes were a deep shade of brown, with some golden flecks.
I remembered always thinking she had nice eyes.
She had a few piercings. Two studs on the left side of her nose, and an eyebrow piercing. As for her outfit, she wasn't dressed feminine- like high school as well. She wore a short sleeved red button up and jeans.
The woman that stood in front of me was extremely attractive. There was no denying that.
And the attraction I once had for her when I was seventeen was now flooding back, as much as I did not want it to.
"Well, I'm sure you'll get to know each other better now!" Danielle said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Definitely." Riley said, giving me a grin, "Jenny, I'm going to join you at your desk right now and help you finish getting set up. D, thanks for getting her started."
Riley then paused and said, "Hold on. I'm going to go grab my chair."
She walked to her cubicle at the end, and started pushing her chair to my cubicle. I moved my chair to the side to let her sit next to me.
When we were both seated she said, "Okay. So I'm not going to overwhelm you with a lot on your first day. Or your first week. I'm not going to overwhelm you a lot in general, actually."
I chuckled, "I appreciate that."
"Gah, sorry if I make no sense. I've never actually trained anyone before." Riley said, looking at me.
"I think you're doing a fine job so far." I said back.
"Promise me you'll tell me if I'm not?" Riley asked her brown eyes on me.
"I promise." I said, "But I'll be nice about it."
"Okay. Deal." Riley said, "Though I can handle criticism. I just got promoted to the senior account management position, and when I was told I was training you, I got pretty nervous, I won't lie."
"Well, I am pretty nervous myself. So you're not alone."
"We can be nervous together." Riley said, "Though I promise, you have nothing to her nervous about. This job is pretty chill. And when it's not, we work together."
"That's good to know." I said, "I like that."
Riley nodded and started showing me some of the ins and outs of the computer systems we would be using. I watched and listened as she spoke to me. She was very animated, talked with her hands a lot, and was constantly adding in little jokes here and there.
