The New Year started.
Noah hadn't realized how much time had gone by until New Year's came to an end and Noah began thinking of his last semester of college.
So much had happened in the past month and a half.
A week into the new year, a song blew up and Noah saw all the hate that Sabrina and Joshua Bassett got over it.
Even though he hadn't talked to them much since he started working again, seeing what people said about them... it was horrible.
Noah put on a hoodie and went to a coffee shop. He ordered his coffee and went to the other side of the counter waiting for it.
When his name was called and his order, he went to get it.
He turned around and nearly ran into someone.
"Oh, sorry," he said.
It hadn't registered who was in front of him he looked at who nearly bumped into until he looked at the person properly.
"Sabrina?" he said.
"Noah? Hi," Sabrina said.
"Hey," Noah smiled.
They hugged real quick.
They moved to the side.
"How are you?" he asked. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, yeah, I guess," she said. "How are you?"
"Alright, I guess," Noah shrugged. "How is Shannon ?"
"Oh, you know, she's being Shannon," Sabrina said.
"And Sarah?"
"She's good," Sabrina said.
Noah and Sabrina ended up sitting together at a table.
Noah had a feeling that Sabrina didn't really want to tell him what really was going on, but he told her he was there for her if she needed someone to talk to.
He can only imagine what she might be going through.
They went from catching up on what they've been doing since COVID started to Sabrina pretty much telling him everything that she's going through right now.
She was trying not to let what was being said to her and about her online get to her, but it was hard. It was hard ignoring it.
Sabrina ended up coming over to Noah's condo.
He and Joey ended up moving out of the apartment they were renting.
Joey moved to a different complex and Noah got a condo. It just became time for them to move and they both agreed that they wouldn't live together any longer.
They had fun during the time they were living together but they both realized that not living together anymore would be for the best. They weren't willing to risk it. They did not want their friendship to be affected if they lived together even though nothing happened.
"Nice place," Sabrina complimented.
"Thanks," Noah said. "Dad and Grace have been helping me set up."
"But it looks good for someone who just moved in," Sabrina said.
"Thanks," Noah said.
They both sat on the floor in the living room, talking.
Noah let Joey keep all the furniture. Noah thankfully was in a position where he was able to afford all brand-new furniture. It was expensive but he was doing well.
In most of the contracts he signed, he would make sure that he kept making money from the merchandise and streaming. If these movie studios were going to profit off of his likeness, might as well get some sort of cut from it, even when his work goes to streaming.
"So, you and Josh..." Noah started.
Sabrina shifted, uncomfortably.
"Are you guys friends or...? If you guys are more than friends, that's fine," Noah added seeing Sabrina's facial expression.
"You saw the TiKTok and those pictures of us a couple of months ago?" Sabrina asked.
Noah nodded. "When I saw the pictures, I just thought that you guys were hanging out or working on something. Then Joey showed me the TikTok and I thought that if you guys really were dating..."
"If we were, would you be okay with it?"
"Yeah, I guess," Noah shrugged."
"Did Josh say anything to you?"
"I remember he asked me if it would be okay if he asked you out," Noah said, "but I don't remember what I said."
Sabrina nodded.
"Are you okay?" Noah asked.
He asked that question several times during the time they were hanging out.
"Just so you know, Josh and I are not dating now," Sabrina said. "And I'm trying not to let the comments get under my skin. It's been hard, but..."
"Under your skin..." Noah repeated.
The gears in his head started spinning.
"What?" Sabrina said.
She could tell that something just hit him.
"You know," Noah began, "you can turn this into a song. Not letting those comments get under your skin."
Sabrina's eyes lit up.
He could tell that some sort of inspiration hit her.
"Do you have a pen and paper?" Sabrina asked. "And a guitar?"
"Yeah, I got it," Noah said.
He quickly got up and rushed to grab his guitar and some paper and pens.
He and Sabrina spent the rest of the day working on a song together.
They ordered Chinese food as they worked on the song.
"You know, the song would sound better if it started off with a piano playing," Noah said.
"Yeah, yeah," Sabrina said, catching on to Noah's thinking. "Too bad you don't have a piano."
"Yeah," Noah said. "Too bad."
The song was nearly done.
It was three in the morning at this point and both of them were tired.
"Hey, come to the studio in the morning," Sabrina said. "I'll text to you when to come. We can finish the song and fix it if needed. I contacted my team about the song and told them that you and I are working on a song together we can release."
Noah nodded.
He yawned. "Yeah, okay," he covered his mouth. "Do you want me to drive you home?"
"Can you?" Sabrina asked.
Noah nodded.
Noah drove Sabrina back to her apartment and then drove back home.
In the morning, he got coffee and headed to the studio.
Sabrina texted him the address to the studio she was going to be recording the song.
They began working with Ryan McMahon, a songwriter and producer. He helped them finish the song.
Noah and Sabrina spent a few days at the studio, working on the song with Ryan McMahon.
With all the resources at the studio, they were able to fine-tune everything and Sabrina was able to get it recorded.
Thankfully, Island Records, the record label that Sabrina just signed with, approved the song and set a release date.
To Noah's surprise, they asked him to star in the music video with Sabrina.
He looked at Sabrina who said she didn't mind if he was in the music video.
"Okay," he said. "I'll star in the music video."
