Back inside the house, you were struggling to gather another bloody body in your arms. The smell was horrid and it clung stubbornly to the sides of your throat.
You glanced down at the body and had to freeze when the half rotten neck crooked sideways, releasing a hoard of maggots that you didn't see beforehand.
You silently apologized as you dropped the body and pulled yourself away. Shivers ran up and down your spine, nausea sending your stomach into a whirl.

You turned to look down the hallway, Tanjiro standing there with a confused expression as he took in the sight of your hunched over form.
"Ah, T-Tanjiro...what is it? Is Inosuke causing trouble again?" You forced yourself to straighten up, sending him a lopsided grin. The boy walked forward and stopped next to you to place a gentle hand on your shoulder, a guilty expression overtaking his features.
"I'm sorry, I forgot about the blood thing." The boy genuinely felt bad, especially after seeing you bent over with your hand against your mouth trying not to throw up. "You can go back outside, we'll deal with the rest of the burials."
