While Tamayo was tending to Nezuko, you were sat in the corner, jotting something down on a piece of paper with a forlorn expression. Tamayo and Yushiro had tried to ask what it was you were working on, but you kept hiding it from their eyes and smiling, telling them it was just some medical notes.
You just finished writing down the last word when Tanjiro's soft voice graced your ears. Tamayo and Yushiro exited the room with Nezuko, and you watched from within the room as they spoke with the demon slayer.
You clutched the envelope in your hands, eyes burning with the need to cry.
You didn't want this.
But it had to be done.
For them.
You placed the envelope on the desk next to Tamayo's notebook, apologizing silently in your head again for the hurt this would bring them.
"(Y/n)?" Tamayo softly called your name, and you turned to face her. You rushed over to her, wrapping your arms around her and Yushiro without a word. She smoothed down your hair, shushing you gently like she always did.
After a couple seconds, you reluctantly pulled yourself away and looked up at them. Pulling a smile onto your face to hide your trembling lip, you moved around them towards the door.
