I watched captain morgan's next move closely, Zoro was the first to step forward and attack Morgan who used his axe-hand to hit his swords away. I'll let Luffy and Zoro handle him, I went over and helped Nami with the marines instead.

I felt something hit me in the back and quickly ducked as a marine used their sword to cut through the air where my head had been moments before. I whirled around, heart pounding, and saw two marines looking down at me with steely eyes. they both carried swords raised ready for action. my body tensed as they moved towards me; though it was almost impossible to tell who made which strike, they were certainly working in unison like experienced teammates.

"Okay..here we go, again." I muttered to myself before running forward while quickly stretching my arm and fingertips out towards the two long-handled swords that hung vertically on either side of the two marines uniforms.

I felt a hand grip my wrist and help me up, it was Nami. I handed her one of the swords, grabbing it we both sent each other a nod.

with a swiftness both me and nami stabbed the marines' with their own swords— the blades puncture their flesh with each swing of our arms. when we finished, Nami's gaze upon me was like a thankful gaze, and for a long moment we simply stood there while our eyes met, but of course, I looked away. 

Once we were done I made my way over to Zoro and Luffy to make sure they were okay, "Gum gum whip?" Zoro says as he turns to Luffy.

"Yeah! all the great fighters call out their finishing moves." Luffy said and this makes my face scrunch in confusion.

I had to think for a second, "Uh, no?"

"Hate to break up this beautiful moment, but we need to get this safe out of here." Nami says, I nod in agreement as I make my way next to her. "Maybe if we find some rope or something."

Zoro walks over to the safe and picks it up easily, "We can do that too!" I said as I gestured towards him.

I made my way onto the ship with nami, I forgot I had left my hoodie but whatever– wait a sec, the hoodie was wrapped around nami's waist.

"HEY! that's my hoodie!" I exclaimed while reaching for it but nami slapped my hand away, "mines now." Nami replies.

I heard a loud thud and nami turns over to Zoro, "careful with that!" she exclaimed.

"Whatever you say. oh, wait. I don't work for you." Zoro retorted and both me and Luffy looked at each other.

I blinked a few times. "We're sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew." Luffy said and I pinch the bridge of my nose.

"Not a crew!" Zoro, Nami, and I say in sync.

Luffy looks around, I stare out into the sea and squint my eyes a little. I was exhausted, my body aching from—what felt like long hours— of fighting with the marines. all of this had taken its toll; every muscle in my body felt tired.

That's when I realized— koby.

"We can't leave without our friend." Luffy says and I stood up, desperately searching for koby.

"Can't wait. the marines will be here before you know it." Zoro added, I sighed out of frustration.

I somehow felt another presence on the ship making me turn around slowly, "the marines are here already. you're under arrest." someone says.

I looked at Luffy and we both locked eyes for a long moment before we both burst out laughing, "what's wrong with his hair?" I started wheezing.

"Yeah, I might've done that." Zoro added.

"I won't let you make a joke out of me. I'm taking you in and handing you over to my father." The man said which made me hum in amusement as I causally look out into the sea again, "I'll be the hero. I might even get a medal or something."

Before the man could finish a punch was landed to his face. I felt my eyes light up when I saw it was koby!

"Koby?!" Both me and Luffy say.

"God, that hurt!" Koby exclaimed. "It also felt really good too."

I ran towards him and pulled him into a hug. "No time to explain, but we gotta go. this whole island is trying to kill us." Luffy says.

Koby returns my hug, before letting go. I noticed the look on his face— it's like he felt hesitant to say something.

"What? what's wrong?" I asked softly while slowly pulling away from him with a sad look.

"I'm not coming with you two." Koby said, this makes me frown and my heart feels heavy also.

Luffy turns to koby, "you sure?" he asks.

"Before we met, every choice was made for me. but now, I'm gonna do what I want to do. I'm gonna be a marine. I want to help people who can't help themselves. next time we meet, we might be enemies." Koby says.

he was right, but, that wasn't now. it would be far away from now, "But for now...we're friends. all three of us." I say with a smile.

Luffy gives koby a light punch on the shoulder and gets onto the ship, when he gets on I turn to koby and give him another smile.

"Uh," I hummed before reaching into my pocket and giving him a small locket, "this is just– something to remember me by."

Koby gives me a soft smile and takes the locket. I sigh sadly while shaking my head, "Darn. we gotta part so soon..I wish you the best." I say and wrap my arms around him in another hug.

Koby held me tightly before letting go and then kissing my cheek which took me by surprise, "f-for good luck."

I smile. "I probably won't ever wash my cheek." I said jokingly before reluctantly letting go of him and getting onto the ship.

We begin to sail away, both me and Luffy wave goodbye to koby.
