Fort Wraith, France
Simon sits on a hospital bed, thinking about what Stiles told him about Niko. After all they've been through, there's no way Niko could've went against him. But Stiles wouldn't lie, as he hadn't before. After several minutes of thinking and processing, River Mchefen returns.
River Mchefen
"Good to see you're still kickin' lad."
Simon appears surprised.
Simon Valentine
"I didn't think you made it."
River Mchefen
"My boys were slaughtered. But...the war's over, and they didn't die for nothin'. I hear all war is coming to an end after the invasion."
Simon Valentine
"Yeah...well my war's just beginning."
River Mchefen
"Oh...well...hopefully your people won't give you a hard time when you're back countryside."
Simon Valentine
"I'm getting shipped back?"
River Mchefen
"Yes sir. You're being summoned back to Washington I believe. Good luck in your future, Simon. Don't do anything I wouldn't do, haha!"
River leaves, leaving Simon alone.
Several hours later, Simon's on a boat back to Washington D.C. There's not much left to do in Europe, but plenty in the states. The ride takes what seems like forever, but Stiles keeps Simon company until they arrive at the docks. Exiting the boat, Simon is greeted by several American journalists.
American Journalist
"Welcome back from a devastating war in Europe. Is it true you were the cause of said war with your brother Niko Valentine?"
American Journalist #2
"Please answer this question for me sir!"
American Journalist #3
"What's your rank!?"
Stiles stands in-between the journalists and Simon.
LT. Stiles
Private First Class Simon Valentine won't be answering any questions until further notice. Back away please."
The journalists are forced to comply, and eventually end up backing away so Simon can proceed off the docks, followed by Stiles.
Simon Valentine
"Where to?"
LT. Stiles
"I received orders that you are to be placed under emergency protection."
Simon Valentine
"So I can't see the council?"
LT. Stiles
"That's why you're receiving emergency protection, Valentine. A Senator was interested in your investigation, and wishes to speak with you at the next council session."
Simon Valentine
"Okay, but in the meantime, I want to find my brother. And Raz Steelhemor."
LT. Stiles
"I doubt you wanna do that, Simon. Niko will bring you down the second he hears you get to speak in front of the council. And you'll meet Raz soon enough, he has a proposition for you against Niko."
Simon Valentine
"Looks like I'll have to fight evil, with evil."
