Chapter 13 - Where's the money?

Washington D.C.

Simon and Stiles wait patiently in a safehouse. The two haven't spoken to each other since arriving. After a long wave of silence, Stiles appropriately breaks it.

LT. Stiles
"What's your plan, Simon?"

Simon Valentine
"You know my plan. Meet with Raz, talk to the council."

LT. Stiles
"And rat him out?"

Simon Valentine
"I want to speak with my brother. If Raz has a compromise to that, then he'll be spared."

LT. Stiles
"It'll be any time now."

A knock at the door makes Stiles stand from his chair. He slowly moves over to the door, looking through the hole to see who's there. After examining, Stiles opens the door.

Raz Steelhemor
"The kid?"

LT. Stiles
"Inside. And my money?"

Raz Steelhemor
"A minute."

Raz steps inside, closing the door behind him before finding Simon.

Raz Steelhemor
"Hello, boy. Been a while."

Simon Valentine
"You say that like you know me."

Raz Steelhemor
"The only reason you and I are having this conversation, is because your brother and some secret service agent killed my brother."

Simon Valentine
"You can drop the act. You and I both know you're talking about Flynn Lightenhouse."

Raz Steelhemor
"Your investigation led you to impossible beliefs. I admire your work, so they say. However, I don't care what happens to you fortunately. It's your brother we need to talk about."

Simon Valentine
"As I said to Stiles, unless you have a compromise to Niko's confrontation, he's all mine."

LT. Stiles
"He means killing him, Valentine."

Simon Valentine
"What? No. If I said I would kill him before, well that's off the table. I won't kill my own brother."

Raz Steelhemor
"Look kid. It's a classic revenge story. You don't have to kill him, that can be my job. Or the lieutenant's. But anything off the table at this point is a no go."

Simon Valentine
"Then I believe we're done here."

LT. Stiles
"Come on Valentine. You got to make your own compromises if you want to pull this off."

Simon Valentine
"You truly think Niko's gonna try to kill me?"

LT. Stiles
"Confronting him, yes."

Raz Steelhemor
"Quit talking to the kid, Stiles, that's my job. Now, Simon, I think you and I can either go at this two ways. One, you follow through with my orders and kill your brother or one of us do it. Two, I shoot you in the head right here and kill your brother myself. Either way, your brother dies."
