Three against one seemed like a done deal. The group with more numbers would obviously be able to overtake the one person. If you thought that, you were so wrong. As soon as the girls were running at Kuro, he disappeared. Not even a second later, he appeared behind them. Kaya and Nami gasped as they had claws held to their throats. Artemisia, who was lucky enough to avoid their fate, remained still. One wrong movement and Kuro could split one of the girls' throats.

Once Kuro was sure he had the upper hand from all sides, he let the girls go. Kaya gasped as she hit the ground. Kuro pointed a claw at her neck. Nami turned to attack. She was met with a claw as well. This was definitely a better position to be in. Artemisia still didn't want to take her chances. She left her crossbow on the ship so it wasn't like she could do much against claws made of steel.

There was an expression on Kuro's face. It showed the slightest hint of smugness but was hidden under the straight-faced expression he wore all the time, "Too easy," Suddenly, a stone came out of nowhere. It flew at Kuro but he was able to catch it in between his fingers. Artemisia looked in the direction the stone came from to see Usopp. Nami used this distraction to run to Kaya's side. Before that, she grabbed Artemisia's hand to drag her with her. Kuro looked at Usopp. The boy was breathing heavily. Kuro ran at Usopp and struck him. Usopp flew back into a wall behind him. With him out of the way, Kuro sped back to the girls, "Goodbye, Miss Kaya."

The claws reeled back. He was going to them. Or, at the very least, Kaya. Artemisia couldn't let that happen. She had to do something. Her body was moving before she could even think. She was starting to move toward Kuro. Before she could get close enough, a stretchy hand grabbed Kuro's arm. Artemisia froze. Everyone turned to see Luffy standing behind Kuro. Artemisia stared in that direction with wide eyes.

A grunt came from Kuro as Luffy retracted his arm. Anger could be seen on Luffy's face, "These are my friends," He shook his head, "You don't get to mess with them." His voice was dark, something none of them had heard much of. One thing solidified in Artemisia's mind. Getting Luffy extremely angry was something none of them wanted to do.

Unlike Artemisia's reaction, Kuro only seemed annoyed, "You are annoyingly resilient." He adjusted his glasses with the heel of his hand. That's when the realization hit Artemisia. He was wearing the steel claws so there was no other way to adjust his glasses. He adjusted his glasses the same way without them because it was a habit. It was such a small detail, it would be so easy to miss it.
