That word was something that no one ever expected. Everyone was staring at Luffy in shock or confusion. Luffy was unaware or uncaring of the looks. He looked through a telescope to get a better look at the person leading the military ship. Artemisia turned her gaze to Nami, trying to see if she had any idea what was even happening anymore. Nami only shook her head.
The first one to knock themselves out of the confusion was Zoro, "Did you just call that guy Grandpa?" His confusion was now turned into exasperation. Artemisia didn't blame him in the slightest. If she wasn't stuck in the initial shock still, she would've felt the same way. Instead, all she could do is stare at Luffy with wide eyes and her mouth basically dropped open.
There was no time for an answer. Another cannonball was fired at them. The cannonball missed. It managed to splash water at the group. Another cannonball shot through the air after. This one was different. While the previous one missed, this one looked like it was going to hit. Artemisia didn't seem to be the only one to notice this.
Usopp pointed it out, "Hit the deck!"
With enough time, they were able to duck and have the cannonball miss them by a few inches. If anyone had been left standing... Artemisia didn't even want to think about it. Judging by the damage it did to the front railing when it crashed through it, it would have been bad. There was hesitation from the crew to get up. Slowly, they did.
Damage-wise, the ship wasn't harmed too badly. It was nothing a little wood and nails wouldn't fix. Artemisia was just glad that it wasn't one of them. As she inspected the ship more, it looked like the cannonball went through another part of the railing before it fell into the ocean. A sigh came from Artemisia as she closed her eyes tightly, trying not to think of the possibility of getting hit by one of the cannonballs, "That was so close."
"Everybody okay?" Luffy inquired.
Honestly, Artemisia was so worried about herself that she barely even thought to check on everyone else... Did that make her self-centered? Was it considered self-centered if you were in danger? Who knows? She took a quick look around at the group to see that there were no visible injuries. In her book, that was a win.
"I think so." Nami was trying to keep the ship stable.
Coming up from behind her, Usopp had a panicked expression on his face, "No. Not okay. Not even close to okay." He looked physically fine so there was nothing to worry about. They could worry about the emotional damage later. That was something Artemisia didn't want to deal with while also trying to deal with the attacks from the Marines.
