Monday morning, the students were still talking about Matt's party.
I'm sick of hearing about the fight. I'm sure if Matt was here, he'd love the attention. He'd probably find a way to convince people that he meant to get a concussion so he could get out of his calculus test.
Which was today. And I wasn't ready.
When it came to calculus, I already had all the help I can get, but this weekend, I don't have it in my go study. Now, sitting in my chair before the bell rang, I flipped through my notebook , hoping I can absorb everything.
Three minutes before the bell. Shove as much information into your brain as you can, Sabrina. Never mind that it doesn't make sense.
Even if I remembered this information, I wouldn't know what to do with it.
"I'm guessing you're ready to ace this test"
Chris' deep voice made me jump.
"Clearly" I said. "Can't you tell by how quickly I'm looking through my notebook, my sweaty hands and my erratic heartbeat that I'm confident I'll pass this test?"
He laughed and sat down behind me, while I return to flicking through the pages as the bell rings. My mind failed to register that this is the first time Chris started a conversation that was friendly, kind of. It's also the first time he smiled at me, kind of and the first time I heard him laugh.
The teacher stood up. "Put your books away, I'm passing out the tests"
Shit.
Fifty minutes, a chewed pencil and some unshed tears later, I handed in my half blank test. Chris was behind me, ready to hand in his, which was full of his handwriting and he didn't skip a question.
Thinking about it, Chris didn't look nervous when he walked in. He was calm as a lake. If he's hot and smart, I'm sending a strongly worded email to whoever created him.
I grabbed my phone from the basket near the door. Chris and I walked out at the same time, and I glared at him. Stupid Chris, and his stupid smart and his stupid looks, he's so-
"Stupid?"
I jumped and looked at Chris, who finished my thoughts for me. He smirked as we walk beside each other.
"Did I say that out loud?"
"Mumbled. But I heard it"
"I'm guessing you got an A?"
He shrugged.
"Yeah, me too"
He smirked once more before walking down a different corridor without saying goodbye. Weird. I get to chemistry and sit beside Callie, who was talking to Jack.
"How was the calculus test? I have it later" Jack asked me.
"Great, I'm thinking of majoring in calculus because I love it so much"
"Woah, I didn't order a box of sarcasm with a side of sass. Did you, Callie?"
The three of us walk to lunch together after class, and I run into Madison.
"Hey!" She said to us all. "This is great. You just made hunting you down much easier"
She grabbed my wrist and dragged me to her table, but not before I grab Callie. When we get to the table, Madison shoved me down in a seat and sat in front of me.
"Hey, why weren't you in calculus?" I asked Mike when I remembered he did the class with Chris and I.
"Skipped" he admitted. "How was the test-"
