"How much time will it take for us to get to this attic?" Steven asked. "If we can get the mirror before they transform then there would be less destruction."
"Yes, but it's hidden deep into the attic. I've only seen it once and that was years ago. When Queen Chrysalis gifted it to Queen Mercuria." Taila answered. "It was a birthday gift, Queen Chrysalis said that there would be a time to use the mirror. We weren't sure what she meant, however, I believe she meant this moment. Since Queen Chrysalis was given the powers to see the future."
"Maybe she knew this would happen, except if she could see the future then she would have known Queen Kocho's plan to murder her," I asked.
"You're right, but it's rumored that in her last dying breath, she told something to Queen Kocho and it broke her sanity," Taila replied. It explained why Queen Kocho was so determined to kill Queen Mercuria, but what did Queen Chrysalis tell her?
"How far up is the attic?" Susan asked.
"Well, it's going to take us at least 30 minutes to enter the attic from all the way down here." Lunar worried.
"No, there's a hidden staircase in the walls, so we can get there much faster," Taila said while opening a secret door.
"What! You never told me about this." Lunar said while we climbed our way to Attic.
"It's a secret way for the Queen to escape the castle just in case anything happened to her."
The tunnels were tight and narrow, instead of stairs it was replaced with ladders. Though it was much faster, it was harder to get through.
"Woah, there's a lot of stuff in here," Susan gasped.
The attic was large and cluttered. It would easily take us hours to search for the mirror if it was even here. There was a bunch of furniture and family portraits. Behind a cloth was a series of artworks of Mercuria and Kocho when they were younger and they actually looked happy.
"Ugh! This is going to take forever and we have already been searching for so long. There's only 10 minutes left." Susan scolded while tapping her foot impatiently.
"How do you have the patience to wait for Andy to make a decision, but not for doing your job?" Lunar joked.
"S-shut up!" Susan muttered.
"Yeah, Susan isn't patient with me at all." I laughed. "I get on her nerves a lot. She always yells at me and Steven for being late." Susan looked a little offended and hurt by my answer, I regretted my words.
"What did the mirror look like?" Steven questioned. He was going through the boxes frantically hoping the mirror would show up.
"It's in the shape of a moth or butterfly. It's decorated with butterflies and moth detailing in the frame and is black but with gold chains as well." Taila recalled.
"At this point, we'll never find it!" Lunar whined. She leaned backward before knocking over a cupboard. "Ahh!"
"Careful, these items were gifted to the Queen." Taila lectured. Taila helped Lunar up while picking up some of the fallen items. I also went to help pick up the fallen items, however, I saw something sparkle in my eye.
"Wait! The mirror! It was inside the cupboard." I pointed out. I quickly grabbed it, however, the mirror was shattered. "What do we do now?"
I felt all hope crumbling, and tears streamed down my face like a waterfall. Our last chance, and we blew it, two people will have to pay their lives for our safety.
"I'm sorry Andy, please don't cry. It was my fault, I leaned on the cupboard." Lunar cried. Lunar hugged me tight, but I felt numb and guilty. Steven rushed to my side.
