Space is one of the world's biggest mysteries. You earthlings only know about your galaxy the Milky Way, however, there is so much more, There are aliens with all sorts of powers and backgrounds and most importantly problems. That's why at Space Ranger Inc. we are sent out to these planets to deal with the unknown and maintain peace amongst us all.
"Andy! Hurry up!" Steven rudely interrupted me. "It's bad enough I had to deal with you at training camp and now I'm stuck being your partner!"
"Hey! You're acting like I wanted this, it's not my fault we got the top scores in the academy."
"We didn't, I did! You were tied for second place."
"Steven! Have you seen my skirt?"
"Ugh! Put something on before walking out in your underwear! I'm a guy you know."
"Oh shut up, once you stop acting so girly then I'll treat you like a guy," I said while quickly putting on my uniform.
Steven is my childhood friend, we're both the green router aliens. It's uncommon for Green Router aliens to enter this program because our antennae can make us speak any language. We don't have any physical buffs instead most of Green Router aliens become translators.
Steven is known as a prodigy around the program because he aced the physical and knowledge tests. He's rumored to be the next captain, however, for me I barely passed physical and the only thing that saved me was the knowledge test.
Even though, we act like we hate each other. We don't, but I'll never admit that we were always butting heads since birth. We share a birthday except he was born before me by 4 minutes. He was the first to walk, read, etc. The only thing I had was my ability to talk to people. Steven has really bad anxiety, which is very ironic since he can speak every language.
"Susan is gonna kill us, if we're late, again," Steven said while putting gear into my bag.
"Thanks, but I have to decide whether I want to wear my hair up or down." I toss my lucky coin up in the air, "heads up and tails down."
I watched as the glistening circle flipped around, anxiously waiting for my decision to be made, Suddenly I saw Steven grab the coin in mid-air.
"You really need to fix this problem, I like your hair up. You look prettier." He said looking away from me.
"I can't help it! What if I make the wrong choice? What if I regret everything? That's why I let fate decide."
"Calm down and breathe, Don't forget you have really bad asthma." He said while patting my back and doing breathing practices with me, trying to calm me down.
I grabbed my bag out of his hands and took a final deep breath before we headed towards our ship. Susan was already there waiting for us. She was obviously really annoyed by the way she was tapping her foot and shaking her head.
"Where were you guys? It took you guys forever! We are behind schedule by 10 minutes!" Susan said shaking her fist and practically growling the words.
Susan is the person who tied second place with me, unlike me though. She's a native Marzian, the first people to live in Marza. Marza is one of the driest and most dangerous places for its wildlife. Marzians are known for being incredibly strong, however, their education system is very outdated. So Susan aced the physical exam but failed the knowledge portion because of her outdated information.
"We don't have time to argue, let's just head to planet Emo," Steven said while rolling his eyes at Susan.
"It will be okay Susan. We'll make it on time if we cut through an asteroid belt, but just in case we should coin flip whether or not we should break from route." I said grabbing out my coin.
"NO! That won't be necessary, let's just cut through the asteroid belt." She smiles bitterly.
"Okay, today's mission is to try and form a peace treaty between planet Emo and Kimana. Apparently, Queen Mercuria and Queen Kocho are half-sisters." Steven read off the visual board.
"Oh yeah! It was playing on the TV in the background, remember Steven? The royal scandal between Queen Chrysalis and King Mothera. Queen Mercuria was the only moth born in a royal butterfly family and King Adonis sent Mercuria away to her own planet to be exiled even though she was supposed to be the heir to the butterfly kingdom." I recalled while working on navigation.
"Who doesn't remember, it practically caused an uproar in Kimana. Everyone was mad at Queen Chrysalis for cheating while they also disapproved of him exiling his stepdaughter. I mean not even King Mothera wanted anything to do with his daughter." Susan said while steering the ship.
"I don't know if we should be the ones trying to form a peace treaty." Steven rambles. "It seems more like a family situation than us strangers to dwell upon," Steven has a really bad habit of mumbling even when he's with people he's comfortable with.
"That is true, but I can relate to this. My younger sister Anna Belle and I sometimes fought a lot and my parents had to be the ones to help us make up. Besides it shouldn't be too hard to fix this, since deep down they're family and they care about each other." I said proudly.
"Andy, you're way too nice. Sometimes things just cause siblings to drift apart. I think it's cute how well you get along with your sister, but if they are starting a war upon each other then there must be things behind closed doors we don't know about." Susan replied. "Anyways buckle up, we're about to go through the belt."
I looked out the windows, reminiscing on past memories with my sister and Steven. Feeding the earth chickens, planting glow berries, and many more.
One particular memory that always stuck with me is Steven's and I's birthday. Our families were super close so naturally we shared every birthday together. Of course, Steven didn't mind, but I remember Steven and I used to always argue over who was going to blow out the candles first because we thought that wishes were only granted once. So one of us had to suck it up and not get a wish, we always took turns. Except this year was his turn and Anna Belle got really sick. Doctors said that she might not make it, I was so scared that she was going to die and that I was going to lose my only sister. Steven noticed this and gave up his wish this year for me, I was very grateful and the next day Anna Belle miraculously became better. I always think about that memory because I think Steven saved my sister's life, as crazy as it sounds. If he didn't let me gain the wish, who knows what would have happened to her?
"Andy, we're here," Susan shouts. I watch as she impatiently taps her foot, a strange habit she has whenever she's anxious or angry as if she were an old man.
"Planet Emo, area code: 626422424, no native alien species. It's a mix of multiple aliens." I read.
"Careful guys, this place is known for its most used color black, and rude attitudes," Steven said while opening the door. "Remember, we need to end the war and not get fired."
