Annie's POV

I poked my burnt pancake with my fork, then drowned it in syrup before stuffing it into my mouth. It still doesn't take the taste away.

"Why did you tell Wilmer to set the alarm last night?" I suddenly asked Demi as she was making more pancakes. More burnt pancakes probably.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she asked, "How did you know I asked him that?"

"I heard you." I said.

"I just said that because I was coming home from an event and with the paps following me around and such, i just want to be safe."

"It wasn't about my mom?" I asked, setting my fork down.

"No. And I'm your mother." She said sternly.

I mentally rolled my eyes. I bet she's lying to my face right now. There must've been a bigger reason than just 'for safety' because they were freaking out.

"Good morning my ladies." Wilmer said as he took a seat beside me at the island.

"Good morning, baby." Demi smiled, making me gag almost as much as these pancakes.

"Mhm, are those pancakes?" Wilmer asked.

"Sort of." I mumbled to him.

He choked back a laugh as Demi handed him a plate.

"Don't do it." I said.

He ignored my comment and said to Demi, "Babe, these look amazing."

She smiled in satisfaction, then leaned into the bar and started scrolling on her phone.

"What are we going to do about my mom?" I asked again. I'm sorry, it's bothering me.

"You mean Lisa." Demi snapped.

"Yeah," I shrugged, "Lisa."

Her eyes went into a trance, staring at her phone.

"Y- you know what?" Demi asked.

I froze. "What?"

She locked her phone and set it down on the counter. "We're going camping."

"We're what?" I asked, not sure if I heard her correctly.

"Today. Let's go camping." She repeated.

"Camping?" Wilmer asked. "Why?"

"Let's just go out where we don't have to be on our phones," she said, glaring at me. "And we can just be outside and swim and it can just be us and no people bombarding us."

"Like in a tent?" I cringed.

"In the woods?" Wilmer asked. "Do we even have a tent?"

"Yes!" Demi said. "We do. Both of you, go, go, go. Hurry and pack we're leaving in an hour."

"To camp?" Wilmer asked. "Are you sure about this, hunny because-"

"Yes. Today. Go." She demanded.

"You can't be serious." I stated.

"Now, missy. Go." She said.

I huffed and hopped down from the chair, jogging up to my room.

What the actual fuck do you even pack for camping?! We live in California. We go to the beach and lay out. That's as much outdoorsy as it gets. How and why does the bitch own a tent? I know for sure she's never been camping before.

I angrily grabbed a bag from my closet, then scanned my clothes. What do I even pack? I just randomly grabbed a handful of t-shirts and shorts. Am I going to be able to shower in the wilderness?! Might as well bring undergarments I guess. And a few bathing suits.
