Five: The Truth Comes Out

Max:

 When I opened my eyes I saw a whitecoat and panicked. Was I back at the School?! I couldn't be! Even the simple thought of the flock being trapped in cages made me want to scream. But when I looked out of the giant glass barrier...(AN: I'm not sure what to call it) I saw Fang standing there, not in a cage, and I relaxed. After a while Fang came in.

"Fang!"

"Max. You're okay! I was worried about you!"

"Fang, where are we?"

"A hospital. Don't worry. I explained everything. Your mom and sister are on their way."

"So, what's wrong with me?"

"You had shrapnel inside you and a broken arm and nose. You'll be okay. The doctors took care of all of it and I calmed the flock."

"I love you." I said as he leaned down to kiss me before sitting on my bed.

I saw the slight change in Fang's face before he quickly changed it, but I knew him too well, and could tell he had something on his mind, but didn't say anything. He had his head down.

"What's wrong?"

He just shook his head. "Fang."

"If you love me you would tell me everything." He said quietly.

"What do you mean?"

He raised his head and I wanted to cry at all the hurt in his eyes. "Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?"

I got a lump in my throat. PLAY DUMB! My brain screamed, but my mouth betrayed me (as usual) so instead I said, "How did you know?"

He shrugged. "I pay attention. Also the doctor told me."

"I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you, but I couldn't figure out how."

" 'Fang, you're going to be a dad,' would've been a good start."

"Yeah, probably. I feel so bad. Ugh, I'm such an idiot!! The others are going to hate me!"

"They will not hate you. They'll be mad, but they'll get over it."

I surged forward and grabbed onto his arm. "Can you tell them?!"

"What?! Max, no! This is your secret, not mine!"

"Please, Fang?! I just need you to tell them, and then they can come talk to me!"

"...Fine. But that's all I'm doing! Nothing more!"

"Thank you. Oh! Can you tell my mom and Ella too?" "MAX!
