I turned to face the person behind me, half expecting Russia or some Alpha Company show off that you always see in the training room. All I saw was a beast of a man.
I had to tilt my chin up to even look at his face, well his helmet that completely surrounded his head in a bulb like shape. It was the same man that I kept catching glances of in the hallways, in the mess hall. The same man that I knew kept throwing me the same glances that I gave him.
"This, Agent Ireland, is Agent Maine,"
I glanced back at France just as he jumped backwards at the appearance of Sigma, the little fiery, floating, man who appeared just in front of the man - Maine.
"Ireland, exactly what kind of fucking friends have you made since the others left?" I don't know why he was so... scared of Maine, Sigma. I know Maine could be pretty damn intimidating, being this close to him, seeing how built he was, but I wasn't nearly as freaked out by him as France was.
I smiled lightly to myself and shrugged, not giving a verbal reply. "Ah- alright then. I'll catch you later..." He finished as he threw one more worried glance back at Maine and myself before leaving the room in a brisk pace, not looking back.
I turned back to Maine and Sigma, looking between the two. "I'm guessing you're in his head, huh Sigma?" I couldn't help but smile, casting my eyes back to Maine for a moment. I don't think his eyes have left me yet.
I could have sworn the AI smiled. "That's right. This is just a show of strength, for the three of us. We've yet to see you in combat, and this would be a prime opportunity,"
I nodded, chuckling lightly to myself. "Okay. Kinda wish I didn't have to go get changed, but what the fuck. Oh well," I shrugged, smirking.
. . .
"Oh, Ira, usually don't see you down here," Rome announced from the bottom of the stairs, looking up to where I was standing. The sad thing is that I almost forgot about him. I rarely come down to the armoury, so at least I have a reason.
"Yeah," I smiled. He was one of the few 'team' members that I'm not pissed at right now. "Sorry about that Rome. Just hasn't been the best few days, if you can't tell," I jogged down the stairs, coming to a stop beside him.
"I know, I know. When Italy got back on the ship, and saw and heard you talking with Germ, she came straight to me and worried sick about you never talking to them. You are the only other woman on the team, you know,"
I sighed, nodding as I looked down at my feet for a moment. "If they had at least not lied to me, I would have been fine, Rome," I sighed again, walking past him.
"Ireland, I'm not saying I'm siding with them, or you, or whatever, but think of how you would have acted if you had known. You would have insisted on going with them, breaking cover, putting you and them in danger. Tell me I'm wrong,"
I stopped mid-step, not looking back at the man, not saying anything for several, suffocating, moments. I knew he was right, that's exactly what I would do, no matter how stupid it would be.
"Just... get my armour, Rome. I don't need a morality speech," I quickly added, "from anyone,"

Okay, okay, I know, I know, shorter chapters these last two have been. Cuz I'm not packing that much into them, and get to the fight in due time.
Which is the next chapter.
I have big stuff for this planned.
Let's see if you guys can predict my movements before I make them.
Totally not turning into this mad mastermind, I swear to you.
And I'm rambling, so excuse me.
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, and I hope you've also enjoyed the entire book so far~!
