twenty-one

Taehyung is in 3rd year of high school. Just a couple of years and he can finally go to senior year. He has been enjoying learning, and it brings him joy whenever he participates in many events. He joins in volunteering events and even gets chances and offers to join academic contests. As he loved learning, he was active and even excelled in a lot of subjects. He completed intermediate school with academic excellence, and he's still striving for it. Teachers are complimenting his sense of commitment and passion. They are encouraging him to join quiz bees, spelling bees, journalism, and other clubs. After four years, he didn't only improve─ he topped his classes. His popularity for being a notable and moral student increased, and so did the competition.

Despite his excellence, there were still people who wanted to push him off the cliff while he was just getting there. Though some people admire his brave character, some see him as competition or just a mere geek, who's still as pathetic as when he stepped into high school. He had grown and a lot has changed, except that he's still close friends with the former governor's son. Jungkook is now in his senior year, and he has become busier since he committed to being an athlete. He was still amazing, kind, humble─ only one thing has changed. And that is he had become more handsome and more popular. Taehyung believed he had only grown and got to wear eyeglasses for his poor eyesight, which is what he thought he got as a result of staying in the study hall and looking at the monitor for hours.

It's the month of September, and that also means that it'll be a whole busy month. The intramurals, the upcoming quiz bee competition, and then the quarter exam. He's in the gym, helping others in the clubs organize the stage and prepare the materials they would need in the opening ceremony. The benches for cheer dancers and bench yell were categorized per section, and the flags and torches they'll be using had to be ready as well. Amidst their business, there was a loud shriek that reached the gym. Students began walking toward the source of the noise, and then in the blink of an eye, they were running and yelling.

"What's happening?" One of Taehyung's colleagues asked, raising eyebrows as she went confused. Taehyung put down the curtain he was fixing and came down the chair.

"Is there a fight?"

"Maybe there's a celebrity. Their faces looked excited rather than agitated if it's a fight."

Taehyung decided to go and check himself, but even before he reached the gate, somebody came in, wearing a black hoodie and dark sweatpants. Taehyung's eyes widened the moment he recognized him, "Jungkook!"

"Hey!" Jungkook greeted and locked the gate immediately when some students attempted to follow him inside.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Taehyung's brows were almost connecting.

"Damn, it's the former governor's son," one of the club members behind mumbled. "Woah, he's got the fame and looks, I'm jealous."

"Wait. He and Taehyung know each other?" The freshman in their club asked. Jungkook's gaze passed behind Taehyung and saw the others curiously looking at them. He flashed a smile and bowed a greet which left them speechless.

"Hey, I asked you," Taehyung reminded him.

Jungkook brought his gaze back to him. "Just went to say hi? Am I not allowed to?"

"You're making a scene," Taehyung informed him.

Jungkook lifted an eyebrow and asked, "How am I making a scene?" So, Taehyung pointed outside the gym. All windows and the gate were surrounded by nosy students. Jungkook laughed, "I guess I'm popular here. Are you making announcements in your bulletin about me, huh?"

Taehyung plastered a grin, "What am I? An article blogger? Who writes anything about you?"

"You're a journalist and a student council member in this school, why not?"
