🧠-The aftermath of the Swifts' Divorce
No Ones POV
Eleanor and Taylor had been married for about 2 years before Taylor came home one day asking for a divorce. It had caught Eleanor off guard because she thought their marriage was close to perfect. Sure they argued but that was normal in any marriage.
The only thing that really left Eleanor even more heartbroken than she already was, was their one year old son, Nolan. They had started IUI treatment a couple months after their wedding, deciding it was the best time for them due to Taylor's schedule. They used a sperm donor that slightly resembled Taylor since Eleanor was carrying the baby. They had even started talking about a second baby but obviously those plans got cancelled.
Now almost a year later, Eleanor still had no idea what went wrong. Taylor never liked to talk about it. But the divorce was easy, they had a prenup and they shared custody of Nolan. Eleanor and Nolan moved out of the house they shared because she just wanted to start over.
Nolan mostly spent his time with Eleanor since Taylor was pretty busy most of the time. She still saw him though always making sure to call him at night and read him a book. As much as Eleanor tried to have a conversation with her while she had Taylor on the phone, her ex-wife would mostly just give her the cold-shoulder and would hang up. It hurt Eleanor every single time.
Today though, Taylor was going to pick Nolan up for the weekend. And Eleanor was going to go out with her friends for a much needed girls night. Her friends, Amelia and Charlotte, had been her rocks during the divorce. They were always there for her and Nolan no matter what. It broke their hearts when they had came over to Eleanor's old house and found her crying on the couch.
Your mommy is going to come pick you up soon baby. You're going to have so much fun with her! Eleanor told the one year old, sure he still couldn't really talk or understand basically anything. Eleanor still talked to him as if he did she thought it would help him. Mommy! Nolan replied but he would yell that out any chance he could.
A few seconds later the bell rang. Speak of the devil Eleanor said. She stood up from the couch and carried Nolan with her. She always felt nervous when Taylor came because she never knew how Taylor was going to act that day. There had been one single occasion in which Taylor did her worst and went off on Eleanor. Eleanor cried herself to sleep that night, Taylor had never spoken to her like that ever.
Hi! Nolan missed you this week, he's been yelling mommy all day everyday since you dropped him off last weekend. Taylor never made eye contact with her.
You missed me buddy she said taking him carefully from Eleanor. I missed you so much, we are going to see nana and then it's going to be just you, me, Meredith, Olivia, and Dibbles for the weekend.
I'm going to go grab his bag so you guys can head out. Eleanor left toward the living room and made sure to grab some of Nolan's toys he'd been obsessed with and put him in his bag. Also we tried eggs this week and he decided that it's his favorite so you can start giving him that too. He has also started walking a little bit more this week so be careful with that.
I know how to take care of my kid Taylor said rolling her eyes. Eleanor signed. I know, I didn't say you didn't Taylor. Here she said handing Taylor the bag. She kissed Nolan on the forehead before she walked them out to Taylor car. Once Taylor was pulling out the driveway Eleanor waved goodbye to Taylor just to get ignored. She went back inside and went to go get ready. Her heart empty.
It was 8 o'clock when the doorbell rang again only this time is was Amelia and Charlotte. Hey girls! I missed you guys. I'm so close to putting on my pjs and crying myself to sleep.
