no ones pov

Delilah, or Lilah, and Taylor have been together for around 6 years. They started dating in 2016 when they met in a dive bar in New York City. It was like something out of a romcom. Lilah had accidentally bumped into Taylor and spilled her wine on Taylor's dress. They then spent the rest of the night talking and ended the night by trading phone numbers.

It was all so good until it wasn't.

At the end of 2019, Lilah had plans to propose to Taylor. At the time she had the brilliant idea to propose in front of all their family and friends at a party. Lilah was too in love to think about anything going wrong. They loved each other so much she doubted anything going wrong. But oh was she wrong.

(At the party)

"Don't worry too much. I'm sure she'll say yes" Lilah's brother, Jake, said.

"I'm still nervous. But I'm also excited. I just love her so much, like I can spent the whole day here talking to you about how much I love her but I'm sure you don't care" Lilah chuckled. "Anyways, it's time, go play the song."

She made her way towards Taylor, who was sitting next to Lilah's mom talking about the new renovations she was doing to the holiday house. "I'm gonna steal her from you mama, just for a little bit." Lilah pulled out her hand so Taylor could take it.

"Dance with me?" Taylor responded by nodding her head. The song  "Something" by the Beatles started playing. "I hope you know how much I love you. I'm honestly grateful I spilled my drink on you that one night. I have never been this happy in my life and it's all because of you." Taylor smiled at her and said "you know I feel the same way."

"There's so much I want to experience with you still. I want to travel with you and explore new places. I want to watch random movies with you on lazy days. I want to maybe someday raise kids with you. I want all of you." She let go of Taylors waist and her hand reached to her back pocket. "I'm saying all of this because I want to spend forever with you. Taylor, please marry me?"

They pulled a little from each other just so Lilah could show Taylor the ring. Taylor had a hand covering her mouth, her eyes teary. But she didn't say anything. Lilah was starting to worry, everyone had their eyes on them. "Taylor?"

"I'm sorry. I have to go." It was all Taylor said before she rushed out the house. Lilah now had tears in her eyes. She looked at her mom for some sort of comfort to which her mom offered her a small sad smile but nodded her head towards the way Taylor left, telling her to follow the girl.

Taylor was inside their car which made Lilah breathe out in relief. She opened the door and sat in the driver's seat. "I'm sorry I did it in front of everyone. It's okay of you don't want this, just talk to me please."

"Can we please just go home" was all Taylor replied.

(now)

It took them a little bit to get back to normal. They decided that maybe getting married wasn't in the cards right now. Lilah was okay with it because she loved Taylor too much to lose her. She hadn't brought up marriage since then. But even if things went back to normal, Taylor's energy didn't. It was like she wasn't there anymore.

Lilah was trying so hard to fix it but the girl just wouldn't budge. She wasn't sure why she was still here if she felt like she wasn't wanted. It has been 3 years and nothing has changed. Lilah would give her all just so that it wouldn't be reciprocated. But she had hope it was going to be fine in the end.
