Jameson Winchester Hawthorne had never believed anything could take his concentration away from winning, that was until Avery Kylie Grambs had waltzed into his life. Now his whole being surrounded hers. Our fates were intertwined you could say.

Ever the philosopher Jameson, you handsome thing.

Avery and I were planning to study today together in her office. I had a feeling that this might be the day I would confess that I practically craved her presence in my life.

I opened the office doors to find Grayson and Avery awkwardly staring at eachother. Seeing me in the doorway a smile spread on her cute face and she patted the seat next to her.

"So...no one told me we were doing therapy today." I attempted at a joke. Which kind of flopped.

Avery cleared her throat. "I thought Grayson could help us study." Oh Avery you oblivious thing.

"Oh...okay then Grayson hit me with your hardest." I sat back and stretched my arm of Avery's shoulders.

"What is the hardest natural substance on Earth?" He asked.

"Wait let's make this a game." I got up and poured a disgustingly gross looking kale-oats drink into a clean cup. "If we don't know the answer we drink."

"What is your obsession with drinks?" Avery laughed.

I just sat down.

"Diamonds?" I guessed.

He contemplated for a moment. "I'll let it pass."

"Good answer big brother." I sighed and laid my head into Avery's lap. At that I could see Grayson stiffened but either Avery didn't notice or didn't care because next thing you know she was running her fingers through my hair.

"You have nice hair" She murmured.

"I know." I winked up at her. We maintained eye contact for a second longer than we should.

"I'll leave." Grayson said.

"No! Wait!" Avery said and I sat up to which she stood.

"Why are you doing this?" I questioned.

"Because once again I lost her. To you. But the thing is I'll never be fully over Emily. But because you existed, she wanted you. And now Avery does as well."

"I wish-" He stopped himself.

"What." I shrugged. "It's probably nothing I havent heard before."

But Avery shut us down. And Grayson just left.

She had hugged me but I was so numb that I couldnt feel it at all.
